Players were once again paired up randomly. Winners were Bill Hearn and Dave Whyte with 34 points, Abe Leitch and Murray Purdue 30, Joe Fulop and Doug McAsh 28, and tied for fourth were Doug Mills and Dave Turner with 27 and Ronnie Coleman and Steve Lefaive also with 27. As you can see we have some very competitive and skilled players in this club. All very close scores. The club will meet Tues., March 11 for singles play. Gloria Wilbee led the worship service in Varna on Sunday with a potluck luncheon and annual meeting to follow. Sympathies go out to Linda Linfield and her daughters Leslie and Hailey and their families on the passing of Bill this past week, and also to Lynn Mount and her family on the loss of Lynn's mother. Flowers were placed in the church in memory of both of them. The Stan Lee Club are hosting a Jamboree on March 5 at the complex. Everyone welcome! Worship service will be in Varna on Sun., March 9. There will be a board meeting March 13 at 8 p.m. in Varna. The U.C.W. World Day of Prayer is celebrated Thurs., March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Varna United Church. Varna and Brucefield are in charge. The topic is Guyana. Everyone welcome! Plan to attend the Huron Perth executive meeting Mon., March 10 at 9 a.m. at the Brucefield United Church. Sun., March 16 church will be in Goshen. Plan to stay for lunch. There will be a hot dog luncheon with a love- ly dessert and beverage. There will be a free will offering and all proceeds will be given to Camp Menesetung. Five Alive and the Clinton Community Players present "Murder At the Monastery." This is a potluck dinner and murder mystery to be held at the Brucefield United Church on Sat., March 29 at 6:30 p.m. You can pur- chase your ticket from the Five Alive committee. Plan to attend and mark your calendar. Theatre show supports C.T. scanner for Huron Carry on Cloggers present "Hit the Road" Sun., April 13 with two shows. Show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Blyth Festival Theatre. All proceeds go to the CT Scanner for Huron. Call Deb Rathwell for tickets at 233- 9153. You are reminded to spring ahead this Saturday night Mark Mon., March 17 on your calendars and help us celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a pot luck supper. It is to be held at the Varna Complex at 6 p.m. Bring your own untensils, plates,etc. Tea, coffee and cold drinks will be provided. There will be fun and games for all. Also new this year is an Irish Stew challenge for the men. This is a community wide event so everyone is wel- come!! Come join in the fun and fellowship. Brenda Hennessey, Elaine Bogart and Mary Jane Taylor were in charge of the program and provided the refreshments. Lois Hodgins and her son Glen along with Geraldine Schenk played the music for a lively sing -song enjoyed by resi- dents and chapter members. It was announced that we would be attending the Grand Theatre on May 7 to see Twist and Shout. Elaine Bogart and Elsie Witteveen of the Ways Means Committee held a draw which was won by Marian Rider. Joanne Bowen reported that Founders Day would be held at noon on April 29. Verla Russell stated that Daffodil Day is Fri., March 28. Later, everyone enjoyed playing Court Whist with Joanne Bowen and Elaine Bogart having the highest scores.
