Judith Ritchie was in charge of the Lent 3 Sunday church service on Sunday morning. Rev. Judith lit the Christ candle and everyone sang the first hymn "Seek Ye First." Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone passed the Peace. Everyone sang a new Introit Tree of Life and Awesome Mystery. Rev. Judith led in the call to worship responsively and prayer of confession in unison as well as assurance of forgiveness in unison. Rev. Judith gave the announcements and Grace Pym gave a minute for council. Rev. Judith read the Old Testament Lesson Exodus 17:1-7. Everyone sang The Lord's Prayer in unison. Psalm 121 was read responsively. The men of the choir sang He Carried the Cross For Me accompanied by the pianist Beth Cooper. The New Testament Lesson Romans 5 1-11 was read by Bruce Delbridge entitled "Right With God." The title of Rev. Judith's message was "Half and Half." Everyone sang the hymn 0 Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go and read the affirmation of our faith "A New Creed." Fred Delbridge and Gerald Cunnington received the offering and Fred was the greeter. Everyone sang the Doxology and read the offertory prayer. Rev. Judith gave prayers for the people. Everyone sang the closing hymn Guide Me 0 Thou Great Jehovah. Workshop on March 29 By Liz Sangster HENSALL CORRESPONDENT HENSALL - At Hensall United Church, service began with welcome and announcements and the passing of the Peace. Rev. Keith Lewis was the minis- ter, his sermon was "God Gives Grace to the Humble". Bill Gibson was the organist. Luanne Phair was the greeter. Susan Mann was the reader and candle -lighter. Garry and Janice Alderdice were the ushers. Donna Hamather looked after the nurs- ery. Service closed with commissioning, benediction, and choral amen. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Rev. Andy Meinen was the minister. Rev. Andy's message was "A letter to the church". Joyce Pepper was the organist for the singing of several old familiar hymns Frank Varley and Al Hoggarth received the offering. Lunch was served after the service. An annual meeting chaired by Rev. Henry Huberts followed. World Day of Prayer Carmel Presbyterian Church is hosting "World Day of Prayer" on March 7 at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Pastor Steve Hildebrand. Everyone welcome. The Hensall and Community Horticultural Society is holding their Annual Spring Workshop on Sat., March 29 at Hensall United Church. The guest speakers will be Janet Anderson of JEA Perennials, and Heather Wind -Mulder from Seeds of Diversity. The cost is $25, and includes morning refreshments, lunch, door prizes, and gift bags. Phone 262-2715 to register for this event. The winner of the latest Hensall Spring Fair month- ly draw was Marion Phair. Election of two Directors for a three year term will take place. The Directors whose term of office expires are Tom Feeney and Mike O'Shea, both of whom are eligible for re-election. March 2 -Concert at Exeter United Church: Carolyn Joles and Jordan Baldwin, violinist - at 2 p.m. Carolyn is a 16 year old soprano soloist who sings in many con- certs in the London churches. She also sang at Trivitt's "Lessons in Carol" service in December 2007. Tickets available at the church office 235-0860. Adults $10, students $5. Donations to Camp Menesetung and Camp Bimini March 5 -Council committee meetings at 7 p.m. fol- lowed by council meeting at 8:15 p.m. The congregation of Kirkton U.C. send their sincere thanks to the friends at Thames Road-Elimville U.C. for all your support of their fundraising efforts - most recently their pancake supper. Donations may go in the gallon jar in the basement or to get credit, place an envelope on the collection plate. The outreach committee recently provided lunch for the annual meeting with donations going to the camps Bimini and Menesetung. Anyone still wishing to donate to the camps can do so by placing an envelope on the collection plate. We are halfway to our yearly goal.
