The top ten prescribed drugs in Canada cover the
following therapeutic groups: pain, cholesterol-
lowering, thyroid replacement, anti -ulcer, heart,
antipsychotics, antibodies and asthma inhalers in that
order. (Tylenol #3 is the most often prescribed drug in
Canada)
Ws good to take your exercise wherever you can find it. Evidently, only 6
per cen of people take the stairs in public buildings where there is an
elevator option. Walking up stairs just seven minutes each day can be a
great boost to better health.
Something new on the bone density front: Studies are currently being
done to see whether standing on a vibrating platform will increase bone
density. Vibration certainly didn't work for weight -loss but it is showing
some promise in increasing the density of bone and hopefully warding off
osteoporosis.
The number of lung cancer deaths per 100,000 Canadians was 47
country -wide. The lowest incidence is in B.C. with 40.3 while the highest is
in Nunavit with 110.5 lung cancer deaths per 100,000 people. There is a
direct correlation between the number of smokers and lung cancer.
