EXETER — The Exeter
Hawks were eliminated at
the hands of the Mt.
Brydges Bulldogs on the
weekend as the Bulldogs
completed a four game
sweep of the Hawks with
5-2 and 5-3 wins.
The Hawks hosted the
Bulldogs Friday night in
Exeter and were down 2-0
by the end of the first peri-

the Hawks on the board

The Bulldogs made it 4-1
early in the third period
before Jake Jeffrey cut the
lead to 4-2 but the
Bulldogs sealed the 5-2
win with a power play goal
into an empty net.
The Hawks were trying
to avoid the sweep
Saturday night, but a pair
of power play goals for the
Bulldogs in the first six
minutes gave them a 2-0
lead early.
Jeff Smale cut the lead to
2-1 at 8:35 of the period
but the Bulldogs replied
just 30 seconds later for a
3-1 lead before Josh Wood
again cut the lead to 3-2
before the period was
over.
Woods pulled the Hawks
even early in the second
period but the Bulldogs
pulled away in the third
period with two more
goals to seal the 5-3 win
and the series victory.

Junior girls end season
EXETER - The South Huron junior girls volleyball
team finished its season travelling to Stratford to play
second -place team Stratford Central in Huron -Perth
play.
The team lost the first game but rallied back to win
the second game.
The next two games found South Huron on the los-
ing side but both matches were close in score.
The whole team should be commended for its strong
play and movement on the court. Special mention to
Jaemi Douglas, Taelor Douglas and Linette Melick for
quickly adapting to a new rotation due to two players
missing from playdowns.
Shaylyn Dwyer and Josie McCann played strongly in
middle with key blocks and hits. Alyssa Sweitzer and
Marlee Heywood shone in the power position with
strong serves and plays.
The team was led by captains Alyssa Becker and
Teri Stuckless who excelled with their strong leader-
ship and ability.
