Checkers is a beautiful calico with a bobtail.
Her colours are very dark. She came into
the shelter from the same barn as Figaro
and Maybeline. Checkers loves food and
could become quite fat if left to eat all she
wanted. Checkers is spayed and is very
ready to have a home of her own where she
can feel loved and safe.

New Minister comes to Trivitt Memorial Church
By Nina Van Lieshout

EXETER - "The community has
been great. The hospitality has been
great. Both communities have been
really warm," says new Minister
Brad Dunbar of Trivitt Memorial
Anglican Church and St. John's by
the Lake in Grand Bend.
Dunbar also has ministerial over -
site for St. Patrick's church on the
Roman Line in Lucan, conducting
the occasional service for the com-
munity.
Dunbar, who lives in Ilderton with
his wife Leigh and three children
Taylor, Jake and Paige, will be
ordained Feb. 29., making him a
reverend. Dunbar will then become
a priest in June.
It was a journey for Dunbar, who
answered his calling around 2001,
to eventually become a priest.
"I was called around 2001-02 and
I wrestled with it at first. It took me
about five years to accept and make
up my mind and jump in," explains
Dunbar, who is receiving his
Masters of Divinity from Huron
College in London this year.
"It's exciting to be done the theo-
retical stuff and put what I was tak-
ing to practice," says Dunbar,
adding Trivitt, St. John's and St.
Patrick's are the first churches he's
had ministerial duties for.
Dunbar, who praises the commu-
nities for making him feel welcome,
says one highlight is, "I love cele-
brating the Sunday morning wor-
ship. That's great. When the com-
munity comes around and supports
each other, you get that sense of
community," adding, "In our day
and age we focus too much on our-
selves and forget how much we
need each other."
Dunbar also says being part of
people's milestones in life, like wed -

dings, is "a big honour."
While looking towards the near
future, Dunbar says he hopes to
expand the musical events at Trivitt
and has a "strong desire to find
ways to meet the needs of the chil-
dren and youth," something Dunbar
will focus on.
Dunbar holds Sunday worships at
Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church at
11 a.m. and St. John's by the Lake
at 9 a.m.
