Jets frustrated

LUCAN — The Lucan Ilderton
Jets had a rough start to the
playoff season over the weekend,
losing the first two games to the
Elora Rocks.
"We just couldn't catch a
break," says Lucan Ilderton gen-
eral manager Rob Andrews of
the Friday night away game,
adding, "We outplayed them and
we deserved to win."
The Jets took an early 1-0 lead
with a goal scored by J.D.
McFarlan in the first period.
In the second the Rocks man-
aged to tie the Jets 2-2, with Jets
Scott Phillips putting another
goal on the scoreboard.
During the third the Jets' Jeff
Cook fired another goal into the
net, but it wasn't enough —
Elora beat Lucan 4-3, scoring
their final goal of the night with
just five minutes left in the
game.
Last Saturday in Lucan, Cook
fired the first marker into the
net during the first period for a
1-1 tie going into the second
period.
During the second, the Jets
doubled its score, but couldn't
catch up to Elora who had a 4-2
lead.
After the third, the Rocks
tripled Lucan's final score, with
a 6-2 victory.
Andrews says the team is still
optimistic that, "we can win."
"I was quite happy with the
performance, but Saturday there
were a bunch of penalties," says
Andrews, adding, "We need to
play more disciplined hockey."
Andrews says the team is frus-
trated, as the Jets have some
playoff history with the Rocks.
Elora has beat Lucan during
the past two playoff seasons.
But with two more games this
weekend, Andrews is confident
the Jets can beat the Rocks. "It
can be done."
The Jets play Friday night in
Elora at 8:30 p.m. and are back
in Lucan Saturday night at 8:30
p.m.
"We're going to take it one
game at a time," says Andrews.
Lucan loses 5-1
LUCAN — After games were
cancelled Feb. 6 against the
Mitchell Hawks and Feb. 8
against the Thamesford
Trojans, the Lucan Irish finally
played the Hawks last Saturday,
losing 5-1.
Lucan's Adam Hartman
scored an unassisted marker
into the net at 5:49 of the first
period, the lone goal of the
game for the Irish.
Mitchell scored twice in the
first, taking a 2-1 lead, before
doubling its score in the second
to 4-1 and firing one last goal
during the third period for a 5-
1 victory.
The Lucan Irish played the
Thamesford Trojans last night
(Tuesday). The details of the
game were unknown as the T -A
went to print.
Talent showcase — Instead of holding its usual annual carnival this year the Exeter Skating Club last week held "Pathways to
Success" at South Huron Rec Centre, an exhibition that showcased all the different stages of skating.Audience members watched
as skaters from different levels were coached through different exercises such as flip jumps, salchows, camel spins and sit spins.

The Tykes faced off against a
very tough East Lambton team
and had very little luck getting
the puck to the opponents'
net. The Sabres played well,
but needed to be a little more
aggressive if they were going
to take the puck from their
opponents. Noah McGregor
played net, saw many shots
and made some great saves.
The two stars of the game
were Stephan Ducharme and
Harrison Bowman. These two
players gave their best effort
every shift of the game! Great
game team!
