week?

Pakenham home known as the
Magnolia Manor. His parents are
Brian and Bonnie. Sixteen year old
Ryan played for Team Ontario
which won the gold and also is the
3rd top scorer for the Erie Otters
now.

Cal who plays for a hockey team in
the States called the Milwaukees
and is leading their team. His sister
Tara 19 years old is attending
Carlton University in Ottawa and is

Russell makes Skate Canada team
EXETER — Nicole
Russell of Exeter has
been named to the Skate
Canada Western Ontario
Development Team for
2008. Russell is eight
years old and the daugh-
ter of Dave and Laurie
Russell.
Nicole is a member of
the Bluewater-Zurich
Skating Club and is
coached by Patty
Dougherty.
The Development
"select " team is made up
of skaters in singles,
dance and pairs who
have been selected
through an evaluation
process that includes
competing in three desig-
nated competitions and
collecting points for their
protocol and evaluations.
Russell was judged and
given a report card after
each event with overall
marks and suggestions
for improvements.
She was given a final
report card with a total
mark which placed her in
the top four and was
asked to join the team.
The program goals are
to provide enriched com-
petitive experiences for
young skaters in Western
Ontario, to provide assis-
tance to young skaters,
their parents and coaches
with learning opportuni-
ties, to aid in skaters'
competitive development
and to provide feedback
and guidance for future
development to the
skaters.
Russell started skating
when she was four years
old in the CanSkate pro-
gram.
She quickly progressed
through the program and
after two years, entered
her first competition.
Russell has accumulat-
ed several medals and
awards through her
efforts and continues to
progress through the
Skate Canada program.
The past two summers,
she has attended the
M.A.0 skating camp in
Lucan, where she is
coached by Marg Carey
and where she was
assessed and asked to try
out for the team.
Russell is looking for-
ward to the months
ahead with many compe-
titions, the Bluewater-
Zurich Skating Carnival
and the seminars and
events of the develop-
ment team.
Russell also thanks
Dougherty and Carey for
their expertise and
encouragement.
