South Huron Tyke Red (2) vs Mt.
Brydges Blue (7)
Goals: Colin Regier (2)
Assists: Noah McGregor, Ashley
Keller, Jayda Consitt, Harrison
Bowman
The Sabres started the game with a
short bench and it got shorter as the
game progressed due to injuries and
sickness. The healthy players were
often double shifted, giving these play-
ers the opportunity to show just how
strong they are. Justin Pym was back
in net for this game and he made
some spectacular saves pouncing on
the puck like a cat on a mouse. The
coaches and fans saw a great game
and super effort by the whole team!

Comment: This game was closer than
the score, Exeter had an outstanding
first period, but couldn't keep pace for
the full game.
The locals had a good showing this
past weekend, Exeter showed they
could play with the big teams, but
have to work on their endurance to
last for the whole 30 minutes of play.
Great job!

Championship Final
Elora -Fergus 5 - 3 Exeter
Goals - Sara McEwan, Josie Kinsman,
Sydney Kinsman
Assists - J. Kinsman
After a very strong start in the first
two games, the Avalanche faltered
against a motivated Waterloo team,
but rebounded convincingly to tie the
strong Elora -Fergus squad on Sunday
morning. This earned the two teams a
re -match in the final and it was an
exciting and tense game right to the
end, when a late goal put the oppo-
nents up 5 - 3 with too little time left
for the Exeter girls to mount a come-
back.
However, after four tournaments, that
brings the tally to one gold and two
silver medals and the team is primed
and ready for the upcoming prelimi-
naries in St. Marys on Feb. 22 - 24.
Exeter Junior "B"
London 3 - Exeter 0
Good hard work by the defense and
Brittany Parker to keep the score
close.
This weeks featured players:
Charlotte McEwan and Morgan
Cooper.
Charlotte is a smart thinking forward,
whose accurate passing has made her
one of the team leaders in assists.
Stats: 8 goals, 18 assists for 26 points,
8 penalty minutes.
Morgan is a hard working defense -
man who is strong in the corners. Her
ability to switch from defense to for-
ward, makes her a very valuable play-
er on the team!
Stats: 5 goals, 9 assists for 14 points,
18 penalty minutes.

Avalanche were winners on the weekend in the Novice B ringette skills
competition at the Guelph Ringette Tournament. From left are Amanda
Verbeke, Sara Dietrich and Amanda Hodgert, who skated a victory lap
after winning in the skating, passing and shooting drills. (photo/submitted)

LUCAN - The Lucan Ilderton Jets begin the playoff
season Friday against the Elora Rocks in Elora at 8:30
p.m. The Jets are then in Lucan Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
for game two, and back in Elora Sunday night at 8:30
p.m. for game three of the series.
Lucan Ilderton Jets general manager Rob Andrews
says, "It's going to be tough. They are our old nemesis
and the defending champions."
Andrews hopes to split the wins this weekend, but says
without a full line up, "It'll be an awfully tough team to
play," adding he's hoping with "a little luck on our side,"
that the games will go well.
Irish lose two straight
LUCAN - The Lucan Irish had a tough week with two
losses, 8-5 last Friday against the Mount Brydges
Bulldogs and 5-3 against the Lambeth Lancers Jan. 30.
The Irish got onto the scoreboard 1:20 into the first
period with a goal by Nick Engel. That was followed by
two goals by the Bulldogs, who took an early 2-1 lead. In
the second, Mount Brydges remained strong with two
more markers, followed by one goal by Lucan's Tyler
Medd, with the Bulldogs taking a 4-2 lead going in the
third. In the third period, Lucan fired three more shots
into net. Jon Fletcher scored on a power play, followed
by Lucan's Kevin Dean and David Latta. But the Irish
weren't able to keep up with the Bulldogs who scored
four more markers, leading to an 8-5 win over Lucan.
Lucan, losing against the Lancers Jan. 30, took an
early lead in the first with a goal by Justin Lightfoot, but
it was followed by two markers for Lambeth, with the
Irish trailing 2-1. In the second both teams fired shots
into the net, with Bob Martin making an early goal at
4:38 on the scoreboard, but Lambeth kept a 3-2 lead. In
the third the Irish had one more goal by Drew Henry,
but couldn't keep up to Lambeth, who scored two more,
including an empty net goal at 19:48, beating Lucan 5-3.
Lucan has two games this week starting at home
tonight (Wednesday) at 7:45 p.m. against Mitchell. The
Irish then travel to Thamesford Friday at 7:30 p.m.
