It's more than I ever expect- ed," says Floor Designs co-owner and installer Doug Meikle, speaking of the latest expansion of his Exeter business that he runs with co- owner Doug Geoffrey. Floor Designs on Thames Road opened Aug. 1, 2001, and has con- tinued to grow, moving from a 4,000 square foot store to its new 6,600 square foot building, now displaying more products. Floor Designs has also gained sev- eral staff members over the years, something Meikle says contributes to a large part of the success of the store. "We offer excellent service. That's something we have always strived for," adding, "I feel like one of the luckiest store owners because of the staff." Geoffrey agrees, explaining their team goes that extra mile, "We don't sell paint or countertops, but the staff have a great colour sense." He says their employees will help any customer choose colours com- plementing their flooring. It's like a "design centre," says Geoffrey. Another area they give credit to is their customers. "The town people have been great. Exeter and the surrounding area has been very good to us. The response has been really fantastic," says Meikle. Geoffrey agrees, adding, "It hasn't just been Exeter, but Goderich, London and Stratford way, too." Meikle and Geoffrey say although carpet is still popular, hardwood flooring is catching up. Floor Designs sells all flooring products, both residential and commercial. Floor Designs held its grand open- ing Friday. They offer free estimates and pro- fessional installation.
