HENSALL — Queensway's Retirement Home was delighted to host the January "Business after Five" for area Chamber of Commerce members on Jan. 24. Visitors were given a tour of the facility and had an opportunity to meet our residents, socialize and network with area business- es in the cozy lounge over snacks and refreshments. The 15 residents, staff, volunteers and family members that participated in the Alzheimer Walk for Memories at South Huron High School Sat., Jan. 26, were thrilled to raise $877 for the Huron County Alzheimer Society. Residents that participated were pleased to have the opportunity to continue to serve their community. Don Finkbeiner, Ivan Norris, Harold Mills, Devon Martene and Harvey Smith were the featured musical entertainment Thursday at the January birthday party. The terrific music drew a good crowd of birthday celebrants along with their friends and family members. Lisa Stewart, music therapist worked her musical magic with residents Friday morning as she led her small group and also worked with the many residents who benefit from her individual attention to their specific musical tastes. Later in the day resident council met to discuss and give their input regarding the upcoming February events. One thing is certain, baking group will definitely be making heart shaped shortbreads for some special events. The retirement residents are having fun with their contest, guessing the amount of snow that will accumulate on Jan. 31. Residents are writing down the amount in centimeters and looking forward to seeing who has the prize winning guess. Breakfast group, exercises, euchre, art group and manicures completed a busy week for residents. Coming Events Tues., Feb. 5 -9 a.m. Volunteer Auxiliary meeting. Thurs., Feb. 7- 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to a Free Financial Information Night at Queensway with Norm Pickell, Barrister and Solicitor and Philip Paquette CFP, EPC. Topics are Tax Efficient Income, 10 Steps to Estate Planning, Utilization of Life Insurance and Probate. Pancake supper at Kirkton UC on Feb. 5 By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON - At the Granton - Wesley United Church on Sun., Jan. 27, Pastor Paul Vollick lead the ser- vice. Meredith Dodds and Emily Young lit the Christ candle. The Scripture readings were from Isaiah 9, Matthew 4 and 1 Corinthians One. The message was entitled "Come Out of The Darkness." The ministry of music by the choir was One Candle. Time was shared with the young people of the congregation. Upcoming Lenten lunch series The annual meeting is to be held on Sun., Feb. 3 after the service. The Lenten lunch series begins on Feb. 13 at Lucan United Church, with Psalm 23 as the theme. Gordon Symons will be the speaker. At St. Paul's Anglican Church in POLICE BRIEF Kirkton on Sun., Jan. 27, Rev. Dalice Sim celebrated the Holy Eucharist. The message was about looking for new possibilities to build up the Kingdom of God. Rosemary Schaefer read the lessons. A time of fel- lowship with refreshments in the lower church hall was followed by the annual vestry meeting, chaired by Rev. Dalice. Cathy Blackler was the secretary.
