(photos/submitted) POLICE BRIEFS Attempted theft results in ignition damage LUCAN — On Dec. 31, suspect(s) attempted stealing a vehicle on Main Street in Lucan, but failed. The ignition was damaged on the vehicle. Drivers nabbed through RIDE program SOUTH HURON - Huron OPP officers continue to con- duct RIDE checks. During a RIDE check on Jan. 18 at approximately 8:30 pm on Airport Line in South Huron, a vehicle entered the checkpoint with open liquor. A roadside Alcotest demand was made and the driver reg- istered a "Fail". The driver was arrested and taken to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided two sam- ples of his breath. Both samples were found to be above the legal limit of 80 milligrams. As a result of the investi- gation, Ronal Hugh Mathers (44) of Parkhill has been charged with one count of Drive with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and one count of Breach Probation. He will appear in Exeter Court on April 24. Choir anthem was Praise the Lord Almighty. Time for the young at heart: Gloria read the book "Love you Forever" by Robert Munsch. Her reflection was "Who's In There?". With January being Alzheimer's month Gloria spoke on her personal situation with her mother who passed away in March of 2005 with Alzheimers. Gloria also treated everyone with her gift of music and played guitar and sang "Where Have You Been." This was to help describe what a person might feel like in a nursing home. Any loose change on the offering plate for Sunday's service was donated to the Alzheimer Society. The morning coffee was donated by the Alzheimer Society of Huron County. Sun., Jan. 27 -Varna Goshen welcomes Gloria Wilbee back to Goshen to lead in wor- ship. Mon., Jan 28 -give yourself a break and attend the Huron Perth Presbyterial annual meeting in Seaforth with coffee at 9 a.m. Guest speaker will be Mary Beth Wilson from Brucefield. The theme is "Come and Find a Quiet Centre". Plan to attend. Sun., Feb. 3 there will be a chili luncheon in Varna following the service. All free will donations will go to Mozambique Garden Project.
