James Boyle robbed Lucan of many scoring opportunities in net! Lots of hustle shown by all. Jan. 20 Exeter 8 versus llderton 2 Goals: Carter McLlwain (5), Nicholas Bedard (2), Luke Andrews Assists: Carter McLlwain Comments: Our team was on their game and their confi- dence is building. Cassie Maier did a great job in net, her first time! Lots of offen- sive action and scoring opportunities. Defence did a great job backchecking to help our goalie. Tyke Red Jan. 19 South Huron 2 ver- sus Lambton Shores 7 Goals: Colin Regier, Jacob Ryan Assists: Jacob Ryan, Ryan Gibbings, Liam McGregor, Noah McGregor This Sabres played a strong game against a very strong competitor. Harrison Bowman played goalie for the Sabres and made many great saves. Even though the Sabres gave their best effort, they could not get much momentum going against this opponent. The Super - Sport of the game award was given to Ashley Keller for her solid effort and her positive attitude every shift. Good effort and great sportsmanship team! Tyke Black South Huron 1 ver- sus Strathroy Blue 7 Goal: Kyle Lapointe Assist: Ki Westelaken Goaltender: Andy Ratte A very good effort by all members of the team. Jared "wreck- ing ball" Orr was exceptional on defense. Jack Robinson and Colin Thiel also had a great game. Keep up the good work, Sabres. South Huron 1 ver- sus Thedford 7 Goal: Hannah Tait Goaltender: Andy Ratte What a game! The Sabres played with a lot of heart and enthu- siasm against a very strong team. The team never gave up! Andy Ratte was spectacular in net. Great digging by Megan Morrissey, Jayden Heywood and Ki Westelaken. Keep plugging away Sabres! Their first win of the year was a great result for these girls who have improved in every game. Lucan came to play and both teams played hard with players missing. We are so proud of our girls. Sam, Jamie and Mikayla played strong in defense with Zoe, Brianna, Lianne. Holly, Sarah and Marika pro- viding the effort on offence. Marrisa got her well deserved first shut out. The team played well together and won their third game against Strathroy 2-0. Juvenile Round Robin Playoff scores Jan. 19 Exeter 4 versus Belmont 1 Goals: Jeremy Oke, Jared Anstett, Jeff Simpson, Matt Campbell Assists: Chad Hackett, Nathan Cann, Jared Anstett, Ben Hodgins, Josh Geoffrey Jan. 20 South Huron 6 @ Glencoe 4 Goals: Chad Hackett (3), Justin Groot, Jordan Skinner, Ben Hodgins Assists: Scott Varley (3), Ben Hodgins, Jordan Skinner, Brent Windsor, Justin Groot, Ian Osgood, Jeremy Oke, Korey McKinnon Junior girls team impresses with wins LISTOWEL - The SHDHS junior girls volleyball team hosted two home match days last week and certainly shone in front of peers, teachers and parents. versus St.Anne's South Huron came out fly- ing in the first game against St. Anne's defeating its oppo- nent 25-7. The second game found the home team trying to fight back but came up short 23-25. In the third game SH again strongly defeated St. Anne's 25-13. Nicole Insley, Taelor Douglas and Alyssa Becker shone in the serving position. Marlee Heywood was very powerful throughout the day with smart passing and hit- ting. Becker, Shaylyn Dwyer and Linette Melick played strong middles for the team. versus Central Huron South Huron successfully won all three games against Central Huron 25-22, 25-23 and 25-14. Linette Melick, Teri Stuckless, Nicole Insley and Taelor Douglas led their team in the serving position. versus Stratford Northwestern The second home matches again found South Huron shining, taking five out of six wins. SH defeated Northwestern by a scores of 25-17, 25-15 and lost a close game 22-25. Phouttharath, Taelor Douglas and Insley set up sev- eral attacks with Alyssa Becker, Shaylyn Dwyer, Teri Stuckless, Marlee Heywood and Sweitzer replying with big hits. versus Mitchell For the final home match against Mitchell, the home team played with finesse and skill as SH handily defeated Mitchell 25-14, 25-6 and 25- 7. Nicole Insley served nine serves in a row with Teri Stuckless, Marlee Heywood, Alyssa Sweitzer and Gina Phouttharath also successful in the serving position. SENIORA GAME 8:30 PM COUNTRY CORNERS HOCKEY DAY JANUARY 26, 2008 PRESS RELEASE South Huron Minor Hockey, the Exeter Junior Hawks, and the Senior A Exeter Mohawks invite you to attend the Country Corners Hockey Day at the South Huron Arena January 26, 2008. We have a full day of hockey and activities scheduled with our neighbours from Lucan. Minor Hockey games begins at 8 a.m. till the Exeter Hawks take on the Lucan Irish at 3 p.m. Following the Junior game, the Tykes will take the ice just before the Exeter Mohawks face the Lucan-Ilderton Jets Senior A team at 8:00 p.m. Following their games the younger players can take advantage of the OMHA's Interactive Zone to test their hockey skills off the ice and can then follow that up outside with a test ride on a Arctic Cat 4 wheeler or snowmobile. The Exeter Hawks will be holding their annual Elimination Draw that night in the hall with a chance to win $1000.00. One price gains you admission for the entire day. South Huron and Lucan Minor Hockey players wearing their team jersey get in free. Come for one game but stay for them all and cheer your teams to victory. Food will be available throughout the day starting at 8 a.m. Breakfast with the Hawks followed by a lunch hosted by the Mohawks.
