Jets come back to win

LUCAN - The Lucan Ilderton
Jets made a comeback during last
Friday's home game against
Monkton, winning 5-3, a crowd
pleaser, being the last home game
of the season.
The Jets led the game 2-1 after
the first, with Jets Jeff Cook and
Todd Hunt getting on the score-
board.
The score was 5-1 after the sec-
ond, with three more goals fired in
net by the Jets Hunt, Alex Butkus
and Ryan Hyladniuk scoring "his
first career goal," according to
Lucan Ilderton Jets general manag-
er Rob Andrews.
The Jets were scoreless in the
third, but kept the lead, winning 5-
3 against Monkton.
Andrews was pleased goalie Dave
Riddell was back in net.
"It was nice to have him back,"
says Andrews, adding, "He was
gone for about a month."
Andrews says the team is guar-
anteed a third or fourth spot going
into playoffs for there area.
"It looks like we'll be battling with
Exeter for the third or fourth spot,"
says Andrews, adding, "We'll deal
with the playoffs when it comes."
The Jets play in Thedford on
Friday at 8:30 p.m. and are in
Exeter on Saturday night at 8:30
p.m. for its last game of the sea-
son.
Mohawks win
EXETER - The Exeter
Mohawks split two games on the
weekend with a 7-1 loss in
Tavistock before rebounding
Saturday night in Exeter with an
11-3 pounding of the Thedford
Dirty Dogs.
The Mohawks have a 15-8-0
record for 30 points.
Against Thedford Exeter was
ahead 4-0 at the end of one peri-
od and rolled to the 11-3 win.
The Mohawks complete the reg-
ular season this weekend with
three games starting Friday
when they host Tavistock at 8:30
p.m. with Lucan in town
Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
Thedford is in Exeter Sunday at
7:30 p.m. to wrapup the
Mohawks regular season.

tender Chelsea Brintnell held off the
St. Marys attack! The final was a
nail -biter until the final three min-
utes. After Sydney Kinsman potted
her 13th and 14th goals of the tour-
nament to give the team a 3-1 lead,
Morgan Allen sent Megan Verbeke
in alone to seal the deal with an
empty-netter! It was hard work and
(mostly) disciplined play that gave
the team the chances they needed.
