In a fast paced game Exeter outskated Mt. Brydges to move into the A Division of the tourna- ment. Lots of hustle and enthusiasm. Some key saves made by Dylan Relouw in goal to keep the victory. Game two Exeter 2 versus Mt. Brydges Blue 10 Goals: Dylan Relouw, Luke Andrews Comments: What a fast team to be up against to get to the A final. The game was closer than the score as our team had sever- al close chances but couldn't get any lucky bounces. Lots of great saves by Justin Godwin as Mt. Brydges had many breakaways. Great effort team. You did us proud! South Huron Tyke Tournament Tyke Red Jan. 12 Game one South Huron Tyke Red 5 versus Lucan White 10 Goals: Colin Regier, Jacob Ryan (4) Assists: Jacob Ryan, Harrison Bowman, Stephan Ducharme, Ryan Gibbings, Joel Denotter, Liam McGregor, Jayda Consitt, Noah McGregor, Colin Regier, Ashley Keller The Sabres played a strong game with lots of end to end action. Justin Pym was spec- tacular in net making some incredible saves. The forechecking and backchecking by the Sabres was some of their best of the sea- son. The Super -Sport of the game award was given to Liam McGregor for his con- tinuous efforts to get the puck every shift. Great first game of the tournament! Game two South Huron 6 versus llderton Blue 7 Goals: Joel Denotter, Jacob Ryan, Colin Regier, Harrison Bowman (2) Assists: Justin Pym, Ashley Keller, Harrison Bowman (2), Stephan Ducharme, Ryan Gibbings, Joel Denotter, Liam McGregor, Jayda Consitt (2), Noah McGregor, Colin Regier The fans had lots of excitement throughout this game with each team fighting for the lead. Nolan Regier made some great saves against some tough Ilderton shots. The Sabers made a come back from a three -goal deficit to tie the game 6-6 with only six min- utes left. This kept the fans on the edge of their seats even when Ilderton managed to sneak in their seventh goal. Congratulations to Colin Regier for receiving the Super - Sport award. This Sabres team has made huge improvements, and each player deserved the trophies they received. (photo/Scott Nixon) EXETER — Two wins on the weekend allowed the Exeter Mohawks to keep pace in the southern conference of the WOAA as the regular season winds down for the league. The Mohawks were in Lucknow Friday night and came away with a 4-1 win over the Lancers before returning home Saturday night to roll over the Wingham Bulls 8-5. The Mohawks got two goals each from Jeremy Van Bergen, Andrew Cary and Sheldon Lacroix with singles from Jeff Glover and Adam McCann. The wins give the Mohawks a 14-7-0-0 record and 28 points. The Mohawks are in Tavistock Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. before hosting Thedford Saturday, also at 8:30 p.m. The WOAA allstars will take to the ice Sunday at 2 p.m. in Tavistock to face former NHL players Reserved tickets for the game are $25 with general admission seating $15 and are available by calling Clive Lawry at 655-3490. On the NHL side will be Craig Muni, Dan Daoust, Darryl Shannon, Gilbert Dionne, Grant Ledyard, Jim Thomson, Mike Bullard, Peter Zezel, Ric Nattress, Steve Rice, Tom Fergus and Wayne Cowley. There will be an autograph session with the former NHLers at noon and Stanley Cup rings will be available for viewing. We have a full day of hockey and activities scheduled with our neighbours from Lucan. Minor Hockey games begins at 8 a.m. till the Exeter Hawks take on the Lucan Irish at 3 p.m. Following the Junior game, the Tykes will take the ice just before the Exeter Mohawks face the Lucan-Ilderton Jets Senior A team at 8:00 p.m. Following their games the younger players can take advantage of the OMHA's Interactive Zone to test their hockey skills off the ice and can then follow that up outside with a test ride on a Arctic Cat 4 wheeler or snowmobile. The Exeter Hawks will be holding their annual Elimination Draw that night in the hall with a chance to win $1000.00. One price gains you admission for the entire day. South Huron and Lucan Minor Hockey players wearing their team jersey get in free. Come for one game but stay for them all and cheer your teams to victory. Food will be available throughout the day starting at 8 a.m. Breakfast with the Hawks followed by a lunch hosted by the Mohawks.
