Jets lose two more games By Nina Van Lieshout TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF LUCAN — "It was another disappointing weekend," says Lucan Ilderton general manager Rob Andrews, whose team lost two more straight games Jan. 11 in Clinton 2-1 and 5-3 against Milverton on home ice last Saturday. The Jets came out slow Jan. 11, scoring its first and only goal in the second period by Tim Parsons, tying up the game 1-1. No goals were scored in the third period leading into overtime, lasting three minutes when Clinton scored making the final score 2-1. Andrews says despite the loss, goalie Jamie Wallace "played outstanding." He also says the team "couldn't seem to get any breaks." Last Saturday the Jets were tied 1-1 against Milverton going into the second period, with Mark Landon making the lone goal. The score remained tied 2-2 after the second, after another Jets goal by Kyle Smith. In the third the Jets fired one more goal into the net but weren't able to catch up to Milverton who finished with a 5-3 win. Andrews says the Jets, who have three games remaining, "Have to start playing a little better. Off the gate we're really slow. We can't afford to get off to a slow start." Although he's happy with the team's performance this season, Andrews is hoping to win the remaining games, adding despite the recent loses, "I'm not dissing the year we've had. Any given night I'm quite happy." The Jets play in Lucan against Monkton on Friday at 8:30 p.m., their final home game this season. The All-Star game is Sunday in Tavistock. Jets player Jason Wilson is representing the team. They will play against former NHL players. The Jets also lost 4-3 against Lucknow Jan. 4 and 5-1 to Tavistock Dec. 29, but beat Wingham 6-1 Dec. 28 and Central Elgin 5-3 Dec. 22. ftVet South Huron Recreational Soccer Club is pleased to invite ALL YOUTH AGES 6-14 (players born in the years 1994-2002) to participate in JJD00 Th 3 fl!
