Agricultural Society fair board
meeting Thurs., Jan.17 in Zurich

ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - A lovely 90th
birthday celebration was
held for Marie Gelinas on
Sun., Jan. 13 which was
given by her family.
The day began with 10:30
a.m. mass at St. Peter's
Church (St. Joseph) by Fr.
Poel with several family
members attending.
Following mass a delicious
brunch was shared by close
to 60 relatives coming from
various places.
Afterwards several friends
joined at an open house in
mother's honour at the
Maple Woods Apartments
where everyone enjoyed vis-
iting, refreshments,birthday
cake, a video and musical
entertainment.
Bluewater Rest Home
Safari Day will be held for
the residents at the rest
home this Fri., Jan. 18.
Mon. Jan. 21 at 2:30 p.m. -
a music group from
Goderich.
Tues., Jan. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
BM Gibson of Hensall will
play the piano in the audito-
rium. In the evening at 6:30
p.m. the Lakeview
Conservative group will be
coming.
Tom and Rose Merrigan of
Hensall will entertain the res-
idents in Zurich on Jan. 23 at
6:30 p.m.
An open house will be held
for Bill Becker of Dashwood
at the Zurich complex on
Sun., Jan. 20 from 2 p.m. to
5:30 p.m. on the occasion of
his recent 75th birthday.
There is also public skating
this day from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.
The Zurich Agriculture
Society will hold their next
Fair Board meeting at the
township hall this Thurs.,
Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
All members are encour-
aged to come out and visitors
are always welcome!
Recent visitors with
Laurene Corriveau over the
Christmas holidays were sons
Peter Corriveau and family
(from California) and Doug
Corriveau (from Calgary).
Shawn and Cathy Rau and
their two girls (RR 2 Zurich)
spent the school vacation
over the Christmas holidays
in Florida.
The staff at St. Boniface
school enjoyed a get-together
and supper in Bayfield on
Jan. 10.
Jerry and Deb Pennings
and family of RR 1 Zurich
recently returned home from
a lovely Caribbean cruise for
seven days as the couple
were celebrating their 25th
wedding anniversary this
past summer.
On Mon., Jan. 14 all the
students and staff at St.
Boniface School were
treated to a hot turkey
lunch with all the trim-
mings, prepared by
Erb's Country Kitchen.
Flu shot
Anyone who missed
getting their flu shot
can still do so this
Thurs., Jan. 17 at St.
Boniface School. Call
Mary at the office for
the time or more infor-

This week's `happy
birthday' wishes go out
to Paul Klopp on Jan.
14 and his twin sister
Linda. Greetings also
to Jerome Sweeney
whose birthday is on
Jan. 18.
Students from the
Zurich Public School
will be going skating at
the arena on Jan. 25

to wear helmets on the ice.
The next Lions club meet-
ing will be held on Wed., Jan.
23 with supper at Erb's
Country Kitchen.
Indoor Soccer Skills
Camp
There will be an indoor soc-
cer skills program beginning
at South Huron District High
School in Exeter (held in the
small gym) on Jan. 16 until
the end of March for kids
aged six to 14 years.
The schedule is as follows:
6 - 7 p.m. ages 6 and 7 year
olds, 7 - 8 p.m. ages 9,10 and
11 year olds; 8 - 9 p.m. age
12, 13 and 14 year olds. Cost
is $40 for the session. For
more information call the
school at 235-0880.
