Total Receipts,
958 head of cattle, 232 lambs and goats
Summary
Tuesday
Fed steers and heifers sold $1 higher.
Choice steers and heifers sold 77 - 81 with sales to
82.75. Second cut sold 75 - 77. Cows sold $3 - $5 higher.
Thursday
Veal sold on a good active trade. Lambs sold on a
strong active trade due to Orthodox Christmas, sheep
sold steady and goats were too few to establish.
Friday
Calves sold on a steady trade and yearlings sold on a
strong active trade.
Steers
There were 223 steers on offer.
SpringLake Farms of Listowel consigned eight steers
averaging 1440 lbs, selling for an average of 81.89, with
seven blk steers averaging 1432 selling for 82.10.
Chris Smith of Brussels consigned eight steers averag-
ing 1546 lbs, selling for an average of 78.88 with three
red steers averaging 1498 lbs. selling to Norwich
Packers for 82.
John Glousher of Wingham consigned 10 steers aver-
aging 1417 lbs, selling for an average of 79.25 with
three blk steers averaging 1385 lbs. selling to Norwich
Packers for 81.75.

EXETER - The

Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authority
(ABCA) is introducing a
new series of environ-
mental events for local
seniors in 2008.
The first of four events
takes place, Jan. 17 at
the ABCA Administration
Centre, located at
Morrison Dam
Conservation Area, two
kilometres east of Exeter.
It is geared towards
seniors and takes place
from 1 to 3 p.m.
Participants are
encouraged to dress for
the weather conditions,
bring their favourite bird
identification guide and
binoculars.
Those taking part will
learn about local winter
birds such as downy
woodpeckers, cardinals,
chickadees and white -
breasted nuthatches,
nuthatches,
through a meet -and -
greet, a multimedia pre-
sentation and, weather
permitting, an outdoor
walk.
Participants will
observe birds feeding
and may have the chance
to feed chickadees by
hand as well.
The cost is $5 per per-
son and tea, coffee and
cookies will be available
afterwards (please bring
your own mug).
The ABCA is hoping to
hold an additional three
events following the Jan.
17 event.
