Friday night with the West Lorne Lakers visiting, Paul Jets lose three straight By Nina Van Lieshout TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF ILDERTON — "We came out flat and fought back. It could have gone any way," says Lucan Ilderton Jets general manager Rob Andrews, whose team lost 4-3 against Tavistock Saturday night. The Jets were down 2-0 after the first and then 3-0 after the second, but were able to make a strong comeback with three quick goals by Jason Wilson, Scott Phillips and Alex Butkus tying the game 3-3. There were no goals in the third which forced a five minute period overtime, which was scoreless. The game then went to a five player shootout, leading to a 4-3 win for Tavistock. Andrews says despite the losses, the Jets are staying positive and are still in good standing with 31 points, putting them in the top four teams on the south side, while Tavistock is in first place. Andrews says the team, which has five games remaining, is concentrating on getting back on track, adding that with two of his goalies, K.J. Robinson and Dave Riddell away for the last four games it was tough. Andrews does commend goalie Jamie Wallace and Marc Wallace for step- ping up. "They did an excellent job filling in, and did so quite admirably." The Jets play in Clinton Friday night at 8:30 p.m. and in Lucan against Milverton Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. "This is the homestretch," says Andrews, adding, "We're hoping to get back on track this weekend." The Jets also lost 4-3 against Lucknow Jan. 4 and 5-1 to Tavistock Dec. 29, but beat Wingham 6- 1 Dec. 28 and Central Elgin 5-3 Dec. 22. thlt 1t 0 , -.1 . c ►r i!!I South Huron Recreational Soccer Club is pleased to invite ALL YOUTH AGES 6-14 (players born in the years 1994-2002) to participate in TIME: 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM PLAYERS AGE 6, 7 & 8 YEARS OLD 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM PLAYERS AGE 9, 10 & 11 YEARS OLD 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM PLAYERS AGE 12, 13 & 14 YEARS OLD FEE: $40.00 (Register the first Wednesday evening) WHERE: South Huron District High School (Small Gym) WHEN: Wednesday evenings beginning January 16th For more information about the program e-mail erne@southhuronsoccer.com Bowden got Exeter on the board first at 14:17 of the opening period before the Lakers responded with a power play goal two minutes later for a 1-1 tie going into the middle period.
