Dance Techniques recital
Annual recital — Poor weather caused the post-
ponement of the original date for the Dance
Techniques annual Christmas Dance Recital, but the
rescheduled date of Dec. 21 went ahead and was well

POLICE BRIEFS
Snowmobile towed
BLUEWATER — On Dec. 14 three males were
charged after a traffic stop on McDonald Road in
Bluewater. The drivers' attempted to flee from
police but were caught. An 1.8 -year-old male of
Bluewater was the driver of the snowmobile
involved in the traffic stop and was charged under
the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act and with a G2
License Holder BAC above Zero. Another 18 -year-
old of Bluewater was the driver of the ATV and
was also charged with several offences including;
failing to stop for a flashing red light under the Off
Road Vehicles Act and a G2 License Holder BAC
above Zero. One of the passengers, an 18 -year-old
male of Bluewater was also charged with a person
under 19 consuming alcohol. The machines were
towed and police took the involved parties home.
Stolen hydro wire
SOUTH HURON — On Dec. 10, police were
advised of a theft of hydro wire from a residence
on Airport Line in South Huron. Some of the wire
had been buried for future use and approximately
100 feet was above ground in a coil for future
installation. A neighbouring dog was heard bark-
ing around 2 a.m. The value of the stolen wire
was in excess of $2,000.

JMR employees ratify-
their
atifytheir first contract
EXETER — For the
first time, the Exeter -
based employees at JMR
Electric Ltd. have a col-
lective agreement.
At meetings held Dec.
13-14 in Exeter,
Chatham and Walkerton,
the employees, recent
new members of
Construction Workers
Local 53, affiliated with
the Christian Labour
Association of Canada
(CLAC), voted 85 per
cent in favour of a settle-
ment. The deal is the
first collective agree-
ment negotiated for the
employees and provides
employees with wage
increases, improved pen-
sion contributions and
fully funded health care
benefits over the life of
the three-year deal.
The collective agree-
ment will see employees
receive immediate wage
increases of $2 per hour
and additional increases
of $1 per hour in each
following year. The col-
lective agreement also
secures for employees
provisions outlining
many conditions of work,
including overtime pre-
miums and statutory hol-
iday pay, night shift pre-
mium, travel pay, vaca-
tion time and paid
bereavement leave.
Features of the settle-
ment include 100 per
cent employer -paid
health care benefits and
the creation of an educa-
tion and training fund
for employee skill and
safety training. In all,
employees will see an
average of 22 per cent
improvement to their
total compensation dur-
ing the life of the deal,
states a press release
from the CLAC.
