JULY 4
• "We need this and it's huge for the communi-
ty"
That's how South Huron councillor and Seniors'
Housing Committee member Pete Armstrong
describes the planned three-storey, 49 -unit
seniors' apartment building to be constructed on
William Street beside the Exeter fire hall.
JULY 11
• South Huron has committed to participating in
the proposed Grand Bend sewage treatment facili-
ty expansion.
As previously reported, the proposed project
would involve Lambton Shores, South Huron and
Bluewater and could cost $12 million. The sewer
project would include Pinery Provincial Park and
the areas along Highway 21 north to St. Joseph,
including Highway 83 to Dashwood. While
Lambton Shores, and now South Huron, are in
favour of the project, Bluewater still hasn't com-
mitted but has scheduled a public meeting for Aug.
4 at 10 a.m. at a location still to be determined.
JULY 18
• The municipality's planning department has
been busy recently with a number of issues dis-
cussed at South Huron's July 9 council meeting.
Council approved a minor variance to James
Eveleigh's property at 163 Andrew Street in Exeter
to allow an addition onto the existing house. The
minor variance was required to reduce the mini-
mum side yard requirement from 2.8 metres from
the southerly lot line to one metre.
JULY 25
• An elderly couple were found slain Monday in
a farmhouse on Bronson Line in Stephen
Township between Crediton Road and South Road.
Police refused to identify the couple, believed to
be husband and wife but neighbours and friends
close to the couple say they are Bill and Helene
Regier of Mount Carmel, longtime residents of the
area.
More than a dozen officers were on scene,
swarming the farmhouse for several hours.
Bronson Line was blocked off between Crediton
Road and South Road as the OPP Criminal
Investigation Branch under the direction of
Detective Inspector Dave Cardwell and the Huron
OPP Crime Unit continued its investigation.
• OPP called off a search early Sunday morning
in Stephen Township in the Municipality of South
Huron for a slaying suspect but issued a Canada -
wide arrest warrant for 22 -year-old Jesse Norman
Imeson of Windsor.
Imeson is wanted for first-degree murder after
26 -year-old Carlos Rivera, of Lasalle was found
strangled to death in Imeson's Windsor apartment
July 19.

As 2007 draws to a close, it's time to start thinking of
the promises we made ourselves last year at this
time. Remember we were going to exercise more, eat
healthier and take more time for ourselves and
family? Here's some more you may want to consider
for this year...
Reduce the amount of cola soft drinks. There is some link between these
drinks and bone loss and diabetes. As well, increase you fibre intake by
eating bran cereals rather than others with less fibre. The target is to
consume 14 grams of fibre for every 1000 calories you take in.
Eat more salmon rather than tuna. The fattier fish like salmon have more
omega-3 oils which some experts say reduces triglycerides in the blood,
helps prevent blood clots and lowers the inflammation of plaques in the
arteries which, if they break off the blood vessel lining, can cause a hears
attack. If you can't get fresh salmon, use the canned type.
If you feel you'd like dessert after a meal, choose fruit. You'll be keeping
your saturated fat intake down which in turn helps your weight. Losing
weight is on many persons' resolution list. Some of these suggestions may
help.
