The Times Advocate, 2007-12-12, Page 1414 Times–Advocate Wednesday, December 12, 2007 Men's Charity Breakfast meets this Saturday CENTRALIA — The feature story for the "We Care" Men's Charity Breakfast this month is different from the others. It is not about one person and his talent, but it is about a group and its dedication. The individuals whose projects were described in earlier articles are hard working, organized thinkers who worked a full day in many cases, and then worked long evenings to complete their tasks. Their patience and attention to detail does not go unnoticed. We thank them for allowing the writer into their workshops and their lives. "Dedicated" describes the group; so does "devoted." They came when there were icy roads and poor visibili- ty. The heat of summer didn't stop them from coming and enjoying a good breakfast. The busyness of the harvest season didn't keep them away because they needed to ask questions and hear THE HOME OF THE WEEK HOME IMPROVEMENT SPECIALISTS✓ F(oorsFirst Innovative Flooring * Armstrong Vinyl* Ceramics * Pergo * Carpet * Hardwood *Area Carpets PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATIONS 519-235-4401 457 MAIN ST. They understood that the hungry are without food during our winter and villages are destroyed dur- ing our summer, and thousands of young children are dying during our harvest season because they have no food. Because they understood, they opened their hearts and their wallets, and as of Nov. 17 they have contributed $372 to the Canadian Food Grains Bank. For this, the hungry and starving in this world thanks them, and God is smiling. The next Men's Charity Breakfast is Sat., Dec. 15, the third Saturday of the month, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Malibu Restaurant south of Exeter. We intend to use this time as an evaluation time and a time to chart our future. The people who come are your friends. Won't you join us? Entry is through an arched entrance, flanked by stone pillars, into the foyer. Directly ahead, beyond an L-shaped staircase on the left, is the heart of the home, the combined great room/dining room/kitchen. Here are all the elements to ensure the family can enjoy informal activities together, with plenty of space to move around. The gas fireplace at one side of the great room can be seen from all parts of the room and will ensure a cosy focus for winter -time activities. On one side of the great room is the kitchen, designed so that the cook will never feel isolated. Ample counter space and an island with a cooktop are sure to please whoever's responsible for meal preparation. Windows over the kitchen sink, set at an angle, overlook two covered patios. A sliding pocket door from the kitchen opens to the dining room, featuring a 10 -foot ceiling and a built-in buffet, as well as access to a covered patio. Steps lead from here to the back garden. The den at the front of the home features a bay window that lends character to this room, ideally located for use as a home office. Behind the den and off the foyer are the laundry room, coat cupboards, storage space and a powder room, all efficiently grouped. The laundry room enjoys easy access to and from the double garage, where there is lots of room for a workshop. A good-sized carousel breakfast room will be ideal not just for breakfast, but for all informal meals. A door opens on to a second covered patio, perfect for al fresco meals during the warmer months. Upstairs, the master suite is privately located overlooking the back garden. A four -piece ensuite includes a corner soaker tub and separate freestanding shower. A walk-in closet offers ample space for both his clothes and hers. Bedroom No.2 is slightly larger than the other secondary bedroom, and is located immediately next to the shared main bathroom. Bedroom No.3 contains its own interesting features — a large bay window and a walk-in closet with a glass -block wall to let in plenty of natural light. The linen cupboard is located between these two bedrooms. A decorative railing borders the hallway, which offers a view to the foyer below. The stone and stucco exterior is enhanced by board and batten siding. Decorative braces add interest to the gables and there's a trellis over the garage. The home measures 52 feet, 8 inches wide and 53 feet, 6 inches deep, with 1,986 square feet of living space. An unfinished basement is included in the plans.
