(photo/Scott Nixon) UCW appreciation dinner Dec. 11 By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON - Sympathy from the community is extended to the family of Bill Egan, age 82, who died on Fri., Nov. 30 at St. Marys Memorial Hospital. Visitation was held at the Haskett Funeral Home in Lucan on Mon., Dec. 3, and the funeral Mass at Holy Name of Mary Church in St. Marys on Tues., at 11 a.m. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery. At the Granton -Wesley United Church on the first Sunday of Advent, Dec. 2, Pastor Paul Vollick led the service and the message was entitled 'Hope needs action.' The scripture readings were from Isaiah 2, Matthew 24 and Romans 13. April Bryan read `Passions of Christmas Stories' and the candle of hope was lit by Meredith Dodds. Doreen McRobert presented Sunday school awards for 26 weeks or more attendance. Receiving a lovely deco- rated egg, which Doreen had made, were Erica Riddell, Adam Dodds, Michelle McBurney, Catherine Dodds, Meredith Dodds and Elizabeth Herbert. Movie night - Nativity Story There will be a movie night at the church on Sat., Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., when the Nativity Story will be shown. The annual UCW community appreciation with supper starting at 5:30 p.m. is to be held Tuesday, Dec. 11. St. Paul's Anglican Church women enjoyed a luncheon meeting at the Westover Inn, St. Marys, on Thurs., Nov. 29 at noon. President Verna Blackler led the program and Rev. Sim gave an interesting account of her recent trip to the Holy Land.
