The Times Advocate, 2007-12-05, Page 13Wednesday, December 5, 2007 Times–Advocate 13 Enjoy a December meal at the Hensall drop - in By Liz Sangster HENSALLCORRESPONDENT HENSALL – The annual meeting of the Hensall South Huron Agricultural Society will be held on Wed., Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Hensall Arena, everyone welcome. Plans are shaping up for the 140th Annual Hensall Spring Fair to be held on June 13-14 2008. The theme of the fair will be "Meet Me At The Farm Gate In 2008". The photo contest categories are "Green Thumb", "Travel", "Open Category", and "My Favorite Photo". For more details visit the Village of Hensall website at http://www.village.hensall.on.ca There will be a bake and crafts sale at Hensall United Church on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., everyone welcome. Come out and enjoy the December meal at the Hensall Drop -In on Dec. 13 at Hensall United Church. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. Following lunch we will be hearing from Bob Heywood. Come on out for the fellowship and great food. We welcome all local individuals to this luncheon. Please note the date change. The cost is $6 per person. If required, transportation can be provided. There will be a family movie night at Carmel Presbyterian Church on Fri., Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. The movie is "Miracle on Thirty -Fourth Street". Admission is Free computer training Computer lessons — KellyVerberne, seen above right, is the Exeter Library's new Community Access Program (CAP) student.Verberne,who started at the beginning of November will offer free computer training to anyone interested. MY FRIEND DEB SAYS IT FREEZES REALLY WELL TOO SO YOU CAN MAKE A BUNCH AND THEN BRING THEM OUT AS YOU NEED THEM, JUST THAWING THEM IN THE FRIDGE A DAY AHEAD. 1 package of cream cheese 250g 2 cans of flaked ham 2 tsp. cried chives 2 tsp. lemon juice 1/2 tsp.Worcestershire sauce Mash and beat cheese and ham together until well blended. Add chives, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Shape into a ball, chilling first if necessary. If too soft mound on a plate. Roll in parsley. Chill and serve with crackers. Yummy! free. Fire Department collecting for Food Bank On Tues., Dec. 11 the Hensall Fire Department will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. Please leave your donation in a plastic bag on your porch, and please leave your porch light on. Services at Carmel Presbyterian Church last Sunday were cancelled due to inclement weather. At Hensall United Church Cecil Pepper was the greeter with Ken and Linda Firman looking after the ushering duties. Kathy Mann and Bill Gibson were the readers with Bill also lighting the Advent Candle. Rev. Keith Lewis' message was "Let Us Walk In The Light Of The Lord". Bill Gibson was the organist. The Friendship Circle is having a craft and bake sale from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 8. Next Sunday will be a special White Gift Service at Hensall United Church.
