Play group for moms and kids

ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH - In spite of the rain on Sunday night the
Santa Claus parade went as scheduled and was really
nice. Thanks again to the hard work, time and energy of
Vicki Welder and all her helpers.
Afterwards the children were treated to candy bags at
the complex from Santa that were donated by the Lions
Club.
This coming Sun., Dec. 9 plan to attend the Living
Nativity taking place at the pavilion behind the ball dia-
mond at the Zurich Park from 7 -8 p.m. hosted by all
area churches.
Congratulations to Jennifer and Chad Patterson on the
arrival of their baby boy Chase Michael who was born
on Nov. 29.
He is the fourth grandchild for Dale and Rose Erb of
the St. Joseph area.
Mike and Wendy Masse along with Rick and Karen
Masse both of R R 3 Zurich enjoyed spending four days
in Las Vegas last week.
The annual Christmas dinner party for all those work-
ing for the Municipality of Bluewater and their spouses
enjoyed a delicious meal at the Bayfield Community
Centre last Saturday night. Everyone was greeted at the
door by Mayor Bill Dowson and his wife Joyce.
Fri., Dec. 7 is a P.A. day, so no school for the kids. The
students at St. Boniface School collected winter clothing
for Blessings store.
On Tues., Dec. 18 students in J.K. to Grade 4 will be
having their Christmas concert in the gym. Afternoon
matinee is at 1:30 p.m. then again in the evening at 7
p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Our fifth annual girl's get together and birthday supper
was held last Friday in honor of Jeanne Hay (Exeter).
This year it was held at the Bayview Restaurant near St.
Joseph with 13 family members coming from such
places as Sarnia, Waterloo, London, Exeter, Hensall and
Zurich. Jeanne was 71 years old on Nov. 29 and we all
enjoyed a delicious birthday cake.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to twins Keith and Ken
Gingerich on Dec. 5 as well as Sandy Stephan on the
same day and Leo Meidinger. Doug Thiel on Dec. 8, Bob
Krueger on Dec. 9.
Lions Club
The Zurich Lions Club held their dinner/meeting on
Nov. 28 with 14 members attending.
Lion president John Becker welcomed District 1-15
governor, Bill Carson and zone chair Lion Eugene
Vincent.
A special ceremony was held for the induction of four
new members to the Zurich club with candles, pins,
speeches and the `Lions Roar' for cubs - Bill Dinnin,
Peter Jacobs, rob Rau and John Roland along with their
sponsors.
A generous donation of $1,000 was presented to the
club by Bill Dinnin in memory of his father, the late Vic
Dinnin who was a Life Member.
Their Christmas dinner and gift exchange evening
includes their wives and will be held at Erb's Country
Kitchen on Thurs., Dec. 13 with social hour beginning at
6 p.m.
Mom's and their pre-school age children are invited to
a play group every Tuesday at the Lutheran Church hall
in Zurich from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Games,
stories and sing songs will be shared.
The next Men's Breakfast will be on
Sat., Dec. 8 at Erb's Country Kitchen at
8:30 a.m. Call Jack Baker if you need a
ticket 236-4845.
On Fri., Dec. 7 a formal Christmas
dinner for the youth and their families
of the Zurich Mennonite Church will be
held in their fellowship hall at 6 p.m.
The foot care clinic at the Maple
Woods apartments will be held on

the common room. Bring along a towel

There will be a Blue Christmas Service at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church on Sun., Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. by pastor
Ann Krueger for anyone finding it hard to bear
Christmas due to experiencing some kind of grief.
Everyone is welcome.
No lesson dates
There will not be any skating lessons at the complex on
Tues., Dec. 25 or the following Tues., Jan 1 but the kids
do have lessons on Sat., Dec. 29 along with a Christmas
party.
The Zurich Public School Christmas concert will be
held on Wed., Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. with students from
Kindergarten to Grade 8 taking part. Dress rehearsal
will take place on Tues., Dec. 11 at 11:25 a.m. for those
unable to attend in the evening. Snow date is set for
Dec. 13. Their penny sale will also be held all that week
before the concert in the library. Drop in during school
hours - it's really great!
