Choice steers and heifers sold 72 - 75 sales to 79.75. Second cut sold 70 - 72. Cows sold $3 - $5 higher. Thursday Veal sold on a steady market. Lambs and Heavy Lambs sold on a strong market. Sheep sold on a steady market and Goats sold on a good strong market. Friday Steer Calves are selling $4 - $5 higher and Heifer Calves are selling steady, while Yearlings are selling $1 - $2 higher. Monday's vaccinated sale saw Calves and Yearlings selling on a good strong active trade. Steers There were 395 steers on offer. Jim Howatt of Londesborough consigned 29 steers averaging 1487 lbs, selling for an average of 74.13, with one Blk steer weighing 1400 lbs, selling to Norwich Packers for 78.25. Vaccination program for hog herds is launched SAINT-HYACINTHE - The Honourable Christian Paradis, Secretary of State for Agriculture, on behalf of the Honorable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri -Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, recently announced the launch of the Circovirus Inoculation Program (CIP) to help address disease -asso- ciated mortality issues affecting hog herds in Canada. While these diseases pose no risk to human health, the economic impacts on the Canadian swine industry have been extensive. On Aug. 20, Paradis, on behalf of Minister Ritz, announced the contribution of $76 million over four years to combat disease and enhance prosperity and stability in the hog sector. The market at Denfield Livestock Sales traded actively at fully steady to slightly stronger prices on the good fed cattle. A good offering of cows sold steady to stronger, a light run of stockers traded steady, a good offering of holstein bull calves traded slightly lower. Mike Schenk, Wyoming had the high heifer weighing 1260 at 79. Don Eedy and Mark Vanderploeg, Denfield sold 26 heifers average weight 1530 average price 72 to a high of 75. Ralph Pool, Wyoming sold 15 head average weight 1442 average price 72.95.
