GODERICH - The
Lucan-Ilderton Jets beat
the Goderich Pirates 2-1
Friday night in Goderich,
in what Lucan-Ilderton
Jets general manager Rob
Andrews called a "pretty
testy" game with a few
fights.
The Pirates scored in
the first, making it 1-0.
The Jets, who were score-
less during the first two
periods, came back in the
third with two goals. Both
Jason Davies and Jason
Wilson scored, leading to
the 2-1 victory.
On Saturday the Jets
played the Exeter
Mohawks, losing 5-2 in
Ilderton.
After the first period,
the Jets were down 2-1,
with Kelly Thomson scor-
ing the lone goal.
During the second, Brad
Yeo scored for the Jets,
making the score 3-2.
The Mohawks scored
twice more in the third,
winning 5-2.
Andrews says both
teams played well, but the
Mohawks "caught the
breaks and beat us."
The game also featured
a ceremony at the start of
the game, honouring for-
mer Jets player Roy
Davies who was killed in
a car accident earlier this
year.
"It was a really nice pre-
sentation to the family,"
says Andrews. Davies'
jersey was retired and
given to the parents,
along with a floral
arrangement from both
the Jets and the
Mohawks.
"It was really well
attended," says Andrews,
who thanks the Mohawks
for participating in the
ceremony.
The Jets play Saturday
night in Milverton. Their
next home game is Dec. 1
in Lucan at 8:30 p.m.
against Thedford.
The Mohawks host
Monkton Saturday at
8:30 p.m. and Clinton vis-
its Exeter Sunday at 8
p.m.
