Judith Ritchie was in charge of the regu- lar church service on Sunday morning. Rev. Judith lit the Christ candle and everyone sang the opening hymn Will Your Anchor Hold?. Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone passed the Peace, and sang the Introit We Praise You For Your Love. Rev. Judith led in the call to worship responsively and everyone read the opening prayer in unison. Robert Bray gave a minute for council. Rev. Judith gave the announcements and lit the red candle for Peace. Rev. Judith read the Old Testament Lesson Isaiah 65:17-25. "The New Creation." Rev. Judith told Kaylee, Justin and Evan about Kermit the frog, "Freely Rely On God." The Lord's Prayer was sung in unison. The responsive reading was Isaiah 12. The choir sang If Anyone Is In Christ accompanied by the pianist Jean Hodgert which was well done. The Epistle Lesson 2nd Thessalonians 3:6-13 was read by Murray Dawson. The title of Rev. Judith's message was "Looking For the Exit." The hymn We Are Pilgrims was sung. Affirmation of our faith "A New Creed" was read by everyone. Robert and Kathy Bray received the offering and the Doxology was sung and everyone read the offertory prayer. The service closed with the singing of My Lord, What a Morning. Rev. Judith gave the commissioning and pronounced the benediction. Everyone sang the choral benediction. Announcements There is a collection of lost and found dishes on the western counter in the kitchen - any dishes not claimed by Nov. 30 will be donated to Goodwill. Wanted: Items for the C.E. Committee's annual Silent Auction. Items can be brought to the church any- time and will be displayed for viewing each Sunday and with final bidding at the Spaghetti Supper on Dec. 9. The Finance committee is having a cheese fundraiser. The cheese will be purchased from Jennard Enterprises (Rick and Jennifer Branderhorst). There will be a flyer and order form inserted in the newsletter. All orders to be in no later than Dec. 9 with delivery approximately on Dec. 16. All monies raised from spaghetti supper and cheese fundraiser will go towards the purchase of the upgraded sound system. Future Events Volunteers are needed for 'Out of the Cold' program for Nov. 26. Nov. 25 -Baptism service (note: This service is upstairs, not downstairs as previously announced.) Dec 3 -Cromarty Presbyterian WMS Marion Ritchie invites men, women, and children of Thames Road-Elimville U.C. to their Christmas meeting at Cromarty Presbyterian Church at 7:30 p.m. Carol Ann and John Scott will speak and show pictures of their trip to Mexico. Musical entertainment as well. If you plan to attend contact Anne Kernick at 229- 6145 by Nov. 27. Dec. 9 -Family Bowling afternoon and spaghetti supper -The fmance committee is sponsoring this event at the Zurich Bowling Lanes from 2-4 p.m. There is a sign up sheet on the back bulletin board. Cost is free. Following the bowling party everyone is invited back to the church for snacks and to view and bid on items for the silent auction. A spaghetti supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. Cost -adults - $10, children six to 12 - $5, children five and under are free. Sign up sheet for the supper is on back bulletin board. Personals Several from this area attended the Scott Woods Program at K.W. Community Centre on Friday evening which was much enjoyed. Quite a number of people from this community attended the Centralia -Zion Turkey Supper and Silent Auction on Sunday evening at the South Huron Rec Centre, Exeter. Belated congratulations and best wishes to Gordon and Myrtle Pengelly on their 23rd wedding anniversary on Nov. 17. UCW.meeting The November meeting of the UCW was held on Tuesday evening The meeting table was cov- ered with a red tablecloth and a lace cloth over it. There was a wreath with poppies and a peace candle and a cross. Honor rolls and pictures were placed across the platform which made it very meaningful for Remembrance Day. Sandra Rowe welcomed everyone. Call to worship litany with Sandra Rowe and Muriel Parsons taking part. A reading challenging empire "What is Empire?" by Judith Parker, quoting from Romans 2:9. The hymn "To Show by Touch and Word" was sung accompanied by the pianist Jean Hodgert. The Scripture Ecclesiastes 2:1-15 was read by Judith Parker and Muriel Parsons read Ecclesiastes 2:16- 23. Judith Parker and Muriel Parsons received the offering with prayer by Janet coward. Sandra Rowe gave the commis- sioning with the other three ladies answering. Meaningful remembering Judith Parker spoke about wars and then she introduced Don Kernick and his son-in- law John Spence. John spoke and told about them, Claire Wright and his wife Mary Lou, attended the rededication cere- mony Oct. 4 in Poland where the remains of their cousin Officer Harold Brown of POLICE BRIEFS Woman caught shoplifting EXETER — On November 11 a woman was caught shoplifting nearly $200 worth of merchandise from the Shoppers Drug Mart store in Exeter. Police and staff investi- gated the incident and as a result, a 70 -year-old Huron East woman has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000. She will appear in Exeter Court Jan. 24. Unlocked van stolen with keys inside BLUEWATER — An unlocked van, with the keys inside of it, was stolen from a Blackbush Line residence sometime during the morning of Nov. 14. The van is a grey 2006 Ford Freestyle.The licence plate num- ber is AZNK 351 and the VIN number is Crediton lie. His plane was shot down over Poland in 1944. They had many pictures for us to look at. Don, Claire, and Mary Lou also spoke and Sandra Rowe thanked John Spence and gave him a gift. Janet Coward closed the first part of the meeting with a Memorial Prayer. Everyone sang the hymn Let There Be Peace On Earth. U.C.W. business Joyce Fulton our president opened the business part of the meeting with a reading "The Maple Leaf." Everyone repeated the U.C.W. purpose. Anne Kernick our secretary took the roll call which was answered by mentioning "a freedom we have that is not found in other countries"along with bringing in a gift for the Christmas Bureau. Anne read the minutes of the previous meetings. Correspondence was read. Shirley Kerslake gave the Mission and Outreach Report. Judith Parker gave the report of fall rally which was held at St. Marys United Church Oct. 22. Joyce Fulton gave the council report in the absence of Sharon Lynn. The White Gift Service will be held Dec. 2. Carolyn Johns gave a partial nominating list. Everyone said the U.C.W. prayer. There were 52 people who attended the meeting which includ- ed men and women. The lunch committee namely Helen Webber, Margaret Stewart, beatrice Dawson and Virginia Warwick prepared many delicious sandwiches, veggies, pickles and beverages which the people partook of which brought a very inter- esting and informative evening to a close.
