CREDITON — A benefit dance at the Crediton Community Centre
Nov. 3 supported Crediton resident Tom Lessard,by helping to offset
costs of a leg amputation Lessard had this summer.
Lessard, who had pain for years in both legs, is pleased to finally
have his right lower leg amputated, although says it's been quite the
adjustment for him and his wife Rita.
"It's upsetting," says Lessard, adding, "I was always on the go."
Lessard says its been an adventure over the years, adding the pain
was excruciating.
"This was the best thing that's ever happened," says Lessard of the
amputation. "I've had no pain since around July 7," Lessard adds.
Lessard didn't know a benefit dance was planned for him, saying it
was a surprise.
The proceeds will help with an artificial leg, which costs at least
$2,000 after government assistance.
