Bethlehem Walk is right around the corner

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Judith Ritchie
was in charge of the Remembrance Day
and Communion Church Service on
Sunday morning. Rev. Judith lit the
Christ candle.
Everyone sang the opening hymn
Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You. Rev. Judith
gave words of welcome and everyone
passed the Peace. The introit We Praise
You For Your Love was sung.
Rev. Judith led in the call to worhip
responsively and the opening prayer in
unison
Rev. Judith gave the announcements.
Joan Morgan lit the red candle for Peace
and there was a time of silence. Bruce
Delbridge read "In Flanders Fields."
Murray Dawson spoke about his cousin
Harry Anderson who was killed in the
Second World War 1939-1945. The
Lord's Prayer was sung in unison. Psalm
98 was read responsively and the choir
sang a Remembrance Day anthem
accompanied by pianist, Jean Hodgert.
Joan Morgan read the Epistle Lesson 2
Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17.
The title of Rev. Judith's message was
"Long Ago and Far Away."
Everyone sang the hymn I Danced In
the Morning and read the affirmation of
our Faith.
Rev. Judith gave the invitation for com-
munion. Everyone sang the communion
hymn Eat This Bread and read "A
Communion Prayer of Thanksgiving for
the World", responsively. Rev. Judith,
Anne Kernick, Melonie Miller, Judith
Parker and Marianne Veldman assisted
with communion.
Rev. Judith gave the prayer after com-
munion. Don and Janice Richardson
received the offering. The Doxology was
sung and the offertory prayer was read in
unison. The hymn All The Way My
Saviour Leads Me was sung.
Rev. Judith gave the commission and
pronounced the benediction, which
everyone sang. The front of the church
was decorated with wreaths with pop-
pies, flags and framed honour rolls.
Announcements
There is a collection of dishes on the
western counter in the kitchen...these are
lost and found items...any dishes not
claimed by Nov. 30 will be donated to
Goodwill.
Wanted: items for the C.E. Committee's
Annual Silent Auction. Items can be
brought to the church anytime and will
be displayed for viewing each Sunday
with final bidding at the spaghetti supper
on Dec. 9.
The finance committee is having a
cheese fundraiser. The cheese will be
purchased from Jennard Enterprises
(Rick and Jennifer Branderhorst). There
will be a flyer and order form inserted in
the newsletter. All orders to be in no
later than Dec. 9 with delivery approxi-
mately on Dec. 16. All monies raised from
spaghetti supper and cheese fundraiser
will go towards the purchase of the
upgraded sound system.

Cold Program' for Nov. 26. Please con-

service is upstairs, not downstairs as pre-
viously announced.)
Dec. 3 - Cromarty Presbyterian WMS
Marion Ritchie invites men, women, and
children of Thames Road - Elimville U.C.
to their Christmas meeting at Cromarty
Presbyterian Church at 7:30 p.m. Carol
Ann and John Scott will speak and show
pictures of their trip to Mexico. Musical
entertainment as well. If you plan to

by Nov. 27.
Dec. 9 - Family Bowling Afternoon and
Spaghetti Supper -sponsored by the
finance committee and held at Zurich
Bowling Lanes from 2-4 p.m. There is a
sign up sheet on the back bulletin board.
Cost is free. Following the bowling party
everyone is invited back to the church for
snacks and to view and bid on items for
the silent auction. A spaghetti supper
will be served at 5:30 p.m. Adults $10,
children six -12 $5, children five and
under are free. Sign up on back bulletin
board.

Hurondale W[gets creative

EXETER — On Wed., Oct. 31, the
Hurondale W.I. met at the home of
Fern Dougall. Halloween decora-
tions were evident in the house and
a delicious lunch was served to 11
members and two guests.
Following lunch, president Fern
opened the meeting with a poem
and the Institute Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect were recited in uni-
son. The Roll Call was answered
with many Halloween memories and
a lot of laughs.
Fern Dougall, Marilyn Pym and
Lorraine Alexander introduced the
group to the craft of stone art.
During the process of this craft Fern
gave her report on the Fall Rally
held in Kinburn. The 4H pro-
gramme was explained at the the
rally and the education award went
to Miriam Veldman.
Marilyn Pym then gave a report on
the London area convention held in
Kirkton. There was a board meeting
on Nov. 6. After the business por-
tion of the meeting, the group fin-
ished their stone art projects.
Remembrance Day was observed
with a reading by Fern Dougall.
Refreshments of witches brew and
spider cookies were served for the
social time.
