Turkey bingo Wed., Nov 21 in support of Lions Club

ZURICH - Congratulations to Jackie and Jeff
Finkbeiner on the arrival of their baby boy Tyson
Kristopher, born on Nov. 8. He is the first grand-
child for Wendy and Mike Masse of RR 3 Zurich.
Mary -Lou Denomme recently spent a few days in
London visiting with her sister; Patricia Murray.
While there they travelled to Scarborough with
Denise (niece) to see their Uncle Ben on the occa-
sion of his 90th birthday.
Members of the Zurich Lions Club were busy last
week delivering the 2008 phone book around the
village. If you were missed and want one call
Sherman Roth at 236-7370. Recycle your older
phone books and place in your blue boxes.
The Bluewater Zurich Skating Club will be deliv-
ering the new phone books in Grand Bend as a
fund raiser for the club.
The Huron Manufacturing Association Excellence
Banquet and Awards night was held on Nov. 8 at
the Rec. Centre in Exeter with a big attendance.
Kati Durst (Canadian Idol) from Goderich enter-
tained the group with her singing. Congratulations
also go out to James Debus of Zurich who won the
scholarship that night to do his apprenticeship
with Geo -Teck Heating and Cooling Ltd. at RR 2
Zurich. James is the sone of Doug and Julie
Debus, Zurich.
On Sat., Nov. 17 St. Boniface school gym will be
full of various items and tables with different prod-
ucts for sale. Come out and do your Christmas
shopping from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is most
welcome.
The London Santa Claus Parade will be held at
night on Sat., Nov. 24.
Flu shots will be available at the Zurich Public
School at 9 a.m. on Thurs., Nov. 22. Then again at
St. Boniface School gym the same day at 1 p.m.
The public are welcome to attend.
Leaves are still being picked up in Zurich until
the end of November. Just put them in clear
garbage bags and leave at the curb ready for the
guys.
Lions Club
Help support the Lions Club by going to their
Turkey Bingo on Wed., Nov. 21 at the Zurich
Complex starting at 7 p.m. Doors will be open at 6
p.m. Everyone is invited.
The next C.W.L. meeting for St. Boniface Parish
will be held on Tues. Nov. 20 with president
Debbie Pennings.
The lighting of the Angel Tree in the front yard of
the Bluewater Rest Home will take place on Sun.,
Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. Anyone wanting to donate a
light in honor of a loved one can do so for $25 by
calling 236-4373.
There will be a hockey tournament at the Zurich
complex on Fri., Nov. 16 and Sat., Nov. 17. Call
Dwayne LaPorte to register a team 236-7277
St. Boniface K of C
Call Dave Regier to register for a volleyball tour-
nament 236-7120 that will be going on at the same
time as the hockey game, in the auditorium.
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Joe Boyle and
Heidi Klopp both on Nov. 11. A family get-together
was held in their honour in London over the week-
end.
The annual meeting of the Zurich Agricultural
Society will be held on Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the
Hay Township Hall. Membership dues of $4 will be
collected that night for 2008. Directors are asked
to have their reports ready from last year's fair. A
dessert social (pot luck) will be held afterwards.
Ladies Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary held their last meeting at
the rest home on Nov. 6 with Bob Heywood singing
and playing the accordion.
Following refreshments nine members and two
honorary members attended the meeting.
Stacey handed out the monthly calendar of events
and said she could use volunteer helpers to go
shopping with some residents in the bus on Fri.,
Precious Blood donates
Shoebox campaign — Precious Blood School in
Exeter was one of several schools participating in the
annual Operation Christmas Child, a project of
Samaritan's Purse.Above front from left are Precious

Nov. 16 to Goderich. Call her at the home 236-
4373. There is also a need for volunteers to make
pies.
A donation of $25 was given to the Quilters Guild
for the lovely lap quilt that was won by Joan
Dezorri at the resident's family dinner on Nov. 4.
It was also decided to have a light on the
Memorial Angel Tree for one of our past members
Ina Neeb.
Mary Ducharme reported she sent out 15 birth-
day cards to the residents and two sympathy cards
since our last meeting in August. Cecilia Farwell
received an 80th birthday card.
The tuck shop cart is doing well every Tuesday
morning. Anyone wanting to help with this once a
week can call Della Gascho at 236-4173 or Bridget
Groot 236-4743.
Membership dues of $5 were collected and can
still be given to Carmel or Hilda if you missed pay-
ing.
Our next meeting will be held on Feb. 5 at 6:30
p.m. and we were glad to have Gladys and Mary
Gingerich back with us again.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery goes out to
Rose Ann Overholt who had the misfortune of a car
accident last week.
Pop cans are still being collected by St. Boniface
Parish for their Building fund and can be dropped
off by the door at the homes of Doug Debus in
Zurich, John Jacobs in Hensall or Mike Miller at St.
Joseph.
Also the students at both schools in the village
are collecting Campbell soup labels and grocery
tapes at the grocery store in Zurich.
