(photo/submitted) ABCA WRT seeking information EXETER — The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority (ABCA) Water Response Team (WRT) is seeking information about how the recent dry period has affected landowners. The late summer and early fall of 2007 was the driest period parts of the Ausable and Bayfield water- sheds have experienced in a number of years. In a number a cases, streams dried up completely or were reduced to pools of water. To document the impact that this dry period has had on the watershed community, the WRT is seeking information about whether people with wells have witnessed reduc- tions in the levels of their well water. "If you have experienced problems with a well that has gone dry, or reduced water volume from your well in the past two months, we would like you to call or e-mail the ABCA office," says ABCA water and planning manager Alec Scott. The information the ABCA would like to collect is: • Property location by 911 num- ber; • Location of well on property; • Type of well and depth; • Problem with well water quantity (for example, it went dry, or volume was reduced); • The solution you found to the problem — for example, reduced use, or drilled new well and; • Impact on you — e.g., inconve- nience, other major problems "The information provided to us will be used to determine what actions, if any, can be taken in the future to reduce similar impacts during periods of drought," says Scott. Information can be provided directly to the ABCA front- office staff by phoning 235- 2610 or toll-free 1-888-2860- 2610, or e- mailed to info@abca. on. ca If you have questions about this information request, contact Scott at the ABCA. It's a time of closure and preparation, especially here in Southwestern Ontario where we have a distinctive change in weather at this time of year. Grey November days are a good time to reflect on the past. Nov. 11 is quickly approaching. There are many places to pick up a poppy and make your dona- tion. There are also special activities planned, including the laying of the wreath and the Remembrance Day ser- vice. Please take time from your busy schedule to thank those who stood in previous wars to protect us and our families from harm and those who are in the mili- tary today. On Sun., Nov. 4, Mr. Dave Williams welcomed every- one to Centralia United Church where he led the worship. His special time with the children was enti- tled "Comfort Blankets", very appropriate for this time of year. His meditation with the adults was "A View from the Tree House". Scripture readings includ- ed Psalm 119: 137-144, Habakkuk 1: 1-4 and 2: 2-4, and Luke 19: 1-10. Marjorie Johns shared her musical talents, providing accompaniment for the hymns - "There's a Wideness in God's Mercy", "God of the Sparrow", "What a Friend We have in Jesus", and "Amazing Grace". Warmest congratulations to Bob and Alexia Tindall who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on the weekend with many family and friends! There are many people from Centralia and Zion West congregations who are facing special challenges. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. If you would like Rev. Ray Hagerman to visit someone, please contact Ray Mills or Ivan Hern. The community extends sympathy and prayers for the family and friends of Janette Barker who recently passed away. Even with the return to standard time, the days are quickly passing! It will soon be time for the Turkey Supper and Silent Auction on Sun., Nov. 18 at the South Huron Rec Centre. It will be a wonderful evening to feast and socialize. This year, the Exeter Community Band will share their special music during dinner Don't forget to get your tickets for this event!
