PET ADOPTION BULLETIN Huron OSPCA (Ontario Humane Society) BIRDIE Birdie was found wandering around a golf course near Exeter. She was rescued and taken to the shelter by some caring people. She was hungry and full of parasites but after a good meal, medication and a good night's sleep she is feeling much better. Birdie is an all black 8 -week-old kitten, who was formerly known as Murray until it was discovered she was a girl. She is friendly but a little bit timid after her ordeal. With some love and patience she will be a wonderful pet. THIS COOKIE IS MY YOUNGEST SON'S FAVORITE COOKIE AND IF I DON'T PUT SOME HIDDEN AWAY HE GENEROUSLY HELPS HIMSELF AND ALL OTHERS ONLY GET TO SAMPLE A FEW REMAINING ONES. THEY CAN BE CHANGED BY ADDING A VARIETY OF THINGS TO THE BASIC RECIPE. JUST KEEP THE DRY INGREDIENTS TO ABOUT THE SAME MEASUREMENTS! WHAT A FUN CREEPY CRAWLY SNACK — BE CREATIVE SHAPING THEM! BUGS 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips 1 cup butterscotch chips 1/4 cup butter or margarine 1/4 cup smooth peanut butter 1 cup peanuts 2 cups dry Chinese noodles (the ones in the can are the nicest) Melt the first 4 ingredients in the microwave or on the stovetop. Remove from heat when smooth and add dry ingredients. Spoon onto a cookie sheet covered with waxed paper in small mounds. Put in fridge to chill and then store in a covered container in the fridge. These cookies freeze well too so I often make a double batch. Try these variations: dried cranberries, pretzels, raisins, dates, and/or mixed nuts. POLICE BRIEFS Break-ins HURON — During the night of Oct. 28, three sep- arate break and enters were called into the Huron OPP. One restaurant is in Dashwood where cash was taken after the thieves smashed the front glass door. The other two restaurants are in Hensall. One attempted entry was unsuccessful, although the window to the restaurant was broken. The second restaurant was entered after the front door was smashed. Cash was taken from that location too. Motor taken LUCAN BIDDULPH — On Oct. 10, a Yamaha out- board boat motor was stolen from Richmond Street near Adare Drive. The vehicle carrying the outboard motor boat broke down. While the owner left to arrange repairs, the motor was taken. Bridge Club Above average s cores for Oct. 24 Eileen Schell and Ted Bridle .625 Nick Nosco and Robert Drumond .575
