Pink Day at SHDHS
Cancer fundraiser —About 300 students at South Huron District High School dressed in pink Oct. 24 for 'Pink Day,' a breast cancer fundraiser and awareness day.The school
raised $700 for breast cancer research.As part of the day, students made donations and received a pink ribbon and a brochure containing information about breast cancer.
Student Kristy Pavkeje, a member of the school's Relay for Life committee, came up with the idea for the school to host the day. October was `Breast CancerAwareness Month.'
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canadian women and the second most common cause of cancer death in women.According to the Canadian Cancer

Winner — Braden Hulley, above, was the winner
in the youth division of the Hensall Horticultural
Society's `Scarecrow Competition.' Finishing in sec-
ond place was Evan Krebs, while Thompson Elevator
won the business division, followed by McBeath

Crime of the month
EXETER — Huron County Crime
Stoppers and the Huron County OPP
are asking for the public's assistance
in solving the following break and
enter and theft.
At approximately 4:30 a.m. Sept. 5,
suspects entered Becker Power and
Leisure on London Road in Exeter
via the front doors.
Once inside, the thieves stole seven
Stihl leaf blowers. Some of the mod-
els include SH55, BR600, BR420 and
BR340.
Police, responding to the alarm,
arrived at the scene a few minutes
later, but the suspects were gone.
The total value of the theft exceeds
$2,700.

this crime call Crime Stoppers at 1-
800 -222 -TIPS (8477). You will not
have to reveal your identity and
could be eligible for a cash reward
of up to $2,000.

Dawe, who recently earned first place in the Technician's Challenge held
annually in Toronto by Chrysler Canada. Bob has been competing in this
challenge for several years. It is both a written and applied exam that pits the best of
the best Chrysler technicians against each other for the title of Top Technician. Bob
will be travelling to Florida early in November to compete against the very best
Chrysler technicians from across Canada for the title of Top Chrysler Technician in
Canada.
