Anglican Diocese of Huron
celebrates 150 years

GRANTON - The 150th
anniversary celebration of
the Anglican Diocese of
Huron was held at the
John Labatt Centre in
London on Sunday after-
noon, Oct. 28.
Several from St. Paul's
Anglican Church in
Kirkton attended the ser-
vice of rejoicing together in
Christ at 2 p.m.
The annual turkey sup-
per sponsored by Holy
Trinity Anglican Church
was held at the Lucan
Community Centre on
Wed., Oct. 24 and was well
attended.
Get well wishes to Norah
Wissel, who is a patient in
Parkwood Hospital,
London, from the Granton
community.
At the Granton -Wesley
United Church on Sun.,
Oct. 28, pastor Paul Vollick
led the service. The mes-
sage was entitled -Don't
be so humble - you're not
that great." The Scripture
readings were from Luke 8
and Second Timothy 4,
Paul Mullenix lit the Christ
candle. The ministry of
music by the choir was
Like a river of tears. Time
was shared with the young
people of the congregation.

The Hensall South Huron Agricultural Society will
meet on Wed., Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of
Hensall arena to make plans for the 140th annual
Hensall Spring Fair to be held on June 13-14, 2008.
Everyone welcome.
Hensall United Church will present a Christmas
Fantasy Auction on Nov. 3 at the Hensall Community
Centre at 7:30 p.m. There will be hand -painted items,
toys, tools, dinners, gifts, golf, crafts, Christmas items,
and much more. Door prizes will include a "Heavenly
Helpings" cookbook, an antique quilt, and a Christmas
centrepiece. There will be complimentary refresh-
ments, hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Admission is $5.

Lucielle Beer was the greeter at Hensall United
Church. The service began with welcome and
announcements. Rob Cameron was the organist. Jan
Collings was the reader and candle -lighter. The ushers
were Garry and Janice Alderdice. The prayer of confes-
sion and assurance of forgiveness were heard before
Rev Lewis' sermon, "The Discipline of Worship". Psalm
65 was the responsive psalm. "0 Worship the King"
and "Come Let Us Sing Of A Wonderful Love" were
sung. The offering was received and dedicated.
Commissioning and benediction ended the service.
At Carmel Presbyterian Church, Rev Jan Maclnnes
was the guest minister. Jan's message was "The Spirit
Pouring Out Change". Jan had a special family time,
"Changed Like A Pumpkin". Joyce Pepper was the
organist for "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and other
well-known hymns. The offering was received by Al
Hoggarth and Harry Moir. The service closed with
benediction. There will be a social hour following the
service on November 4.
