Doubles were played progressively. The High Scores were by Bill Hearn with 40 points., Charles Reid 38, Joe Fulop 33, Ivan McClymont 32 and David Whyte with 30. The club will meet again on Nov. 13 for singles play. Fri., Oct. 28, many from the Varna -Goshen com- munity as well as others attended the special wed- ding of Pastor Elly Van Bergen to Ivan Dow. The wedding ceremony was held in Egmondville United Church with pastor Steve Hildebrand officiating. The combined choir included members from Belgrave, Bayfield, Brucefield, Kippen, Egmondville, Exeter, Seaforth-Winthrop, and Varna -Goshen United Churches directed by Mary Moffatt. The groom's attendant was Ivan's brother Don Dow and the bride's attendant was Elly's best friend Carol Simons, organist Ralph Topp and the readers were Les Hills, Rev. Marybeth Wilson and Kat Dreyer (Elly's daughter). Ushers were Steve Dow and Thomas and Anthony Lansbergen. The gift of music singing The Keeper of the Stars was by John and Chris McIntosh. The choir sang When Love Is Found, As We Gather and I Was There. The celebration of communion was also cele- brated. Communion servers were Rev. Marybeth and Dave Wilson, Les Hills, Bill Gibson, Rev. Ethel Miner Clare, Sandra Cable , Steve Keys and Gordon Hill. After Steve Hildebrand introduced the happy mar- ried couple Elly and Ivan Dow, everyone proceeded to the Seaforth Community Centre for the reception for dancing, socializing, celebrating and congratu- lating the happy couple. Elly and Ivan are wished all the happiness in the world!! Richard Madge led the Varna -Goshen Congreg- ation in worship on Sunday morning. Richard's wife Lorene was welcomed into the choir and there anthem was Sitting at the Feet of Jesus. Richard's message was on "Friendship". Sun., Nov. 4 church will be in Varna with Dave Shaw of Wingham leading the worship. Nov. 11. lay minister Melissa Snyders will be leading iworship in Varna. Varna UCW meet this Thurs., Nov. 1 for a plan- ning and executive meet- ing at 7:30 p.m. Sun., Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m., the Clinton United Church is hosting "Celebration in Song" . There will be mass choirs of local churches and community, Seaforth Barbershop and Harbouraires. There will be a free will admission with all proceeds to go to the Huron County Christmas Bureau. Guest readers from the Lucan community shared a variety of Halloween short stories with the students. Speakers included Martin Clarke of Clarke's Esso Variety, Lisa Tindall of Renew Day & Spa and Colin Haskett of Haskett & Son Funeral Homes who read tales to the Grade 7/8 students. Others included Greg Graham of Greg's Place,Wendy Hardy of the Lucan Post Office, Lee Robinson of the Lucan Public Library, Cathy Mathers of Lucan Public School and Mike Thompson of the Lucan Minor League Hockey Association who entertained the Grade 5 and 6 stu- dents.The literacy event promoted the importance and love of reading to Biddulph students.
