Everyone welcome. At Hensall United Church ser- vice began with an organ pre- lude. Everyone was greeted and the Christ candle was lit. The call to worship and prayer of approach followed. I the Lord of Sea and Sky was sung. The prayer of confession was repeat- ed followed by assurance of for- giveness. Rev Lewis had a spe- cial time for the children. Bible verses were read and Come Let Us Sing of a Wonderful Love was sung. The Gospel Lesson was from Luke 18: 1-8. The sermon was entitled "Worship that is written on our hearts". The offering was received and dedicated. Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace was the closing hymn. The service ended with commissioning and benediction and choral amen. Taking part in the service were greeter Mona Alderdice, reader/candle lighter Julie Towton, organist Carol Carter, HENSA and ushers Kay Mock and Pat Veal. Donna Hamather looked after the nursery. The next council meeting is on Wed., Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. At Carmel Presbyterian Church Rev Jan McInnis was the guest minister with Joyce Pepper play- ing the organ. The offering was received by Frank Varley. The service closed with benediction. The Hensall and Community Horticultural Society held their October meeting on Monday evening with president Luanne Phair presiding. Luanne asked for the minutes of the previous meeting to be read. This was the night when the scarecrow contest winners were announced. The winners were (business class) Thompson's, McBeath Funeral Home, Bank of Montreal. (children's class) Brayden Hulley, Evan Krebs. Jenny Jolly, a long-time mem- ber of the society, was presented with a service certificate honor- ing her years of faithful service to the Society. The guest speaker, Susan Ferguson of Ferguson Apiaries, gave an informative talk on how bees are cared for and how honey is harvested. Susan had slides and photos to illustrate her talk. Ann Maxwell thanked Susan for her informative and LL NEWS interesting presentation. A letter from the Ontario Horticultural Association informing us that our insurance would be increased was read. Ann Maxwell conducted the door prize draw. The door prize winners were Mona Alderdice, Rachel Schwalm, Luanne Phair, Betty Simmons, Jenny Kipfer, Marg Hayter. Lunch and a social time brought the meeting to a close. The annual pot -luck dinner will be held on Sun., Nov. 25. This is a special meeting with presenta- tions and demonstrations. Bursary is sponsored EXETER - We undraped our char- ter. We will again be selling cheese this year. Nov. 5 is a soup and sandwich in St. Mary's. Our Memorial Service will be held on Nov. 7. The officers are to wear white dresses. NG Joyce Morgan will be laying a wreath at the cenotaph on Nov. 11. Brandon Consitt was the recipient of the first bursary we have spon- sored. Congratulations to him!
