Award for Sorority
Supporting the Cancer Society — Janis
Cunningham, unit manager for the Huron Perth Unit of
the Canadian Cancer Society, pictured in
the middle in the back row, was in
Exeter last week presenting a Provincial
Community Partner Award to the Beta
Alpha Masters Chapter of the Beta Sigma
Phi Sorority.The Sorority received the
award for its participation in the Daffodil
Day fundraiser for the last 31 years.
Cunningham said,"The Beta Alpha
Masters Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi has
taken a leadership role for the Canadian
Cancer Society in co-ordinating and selling daffodils in
Exeter. The dedication of the members of the chapter to
this cause has contributed greatly to the efforts of the
society and as such the group is recognized for its excel-
lence as a community partner in fundraising." Last spring,
the chapter sold 1,100 bunches of daffodils, raising
$5,666 for the campaign. Dollars raised help the
Canadian Cancer Society to fund research on all types
of cancer; offer comprehensive and credible information
on cancer, risk reduction and treatment; and provide
support for people living with cancer, family members
and friends through free transportation service to help
those with cancer get to their cancer related appoint-
ments and peer support services. Pictured in front from

I wish to thank all of those who took
the time to vote. Thanks to all the
volunteers who helped and all the
candidates. An election is an
opportunity to pause, and have a
dialogue on the issues which face us
as a province. Now we must move
forward.
I wish to thank all the people of
Huron -Bruce for their support. It is an
honour and a privilege to serve you.
