MUNICIPALITY OF SOUTH HURON
MUNICIPAL CLASS ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A TRANSMISSION WATERMAIN
COMMUNITY OF EXETER — THAMES ROAD WEST/DASHWOOD ROAD
NOTICE OF COMPLETION
THE PROJECT:
The Municipality of South Huron is planning to construct a transmission watermain along the routes of Thames
Road West and Dashwood Road (County of Huron Road 83) to connect the Exeter municipal water system to the
water supply pipeline being constructed to service the community of Hensall. Completion of this project would
provide the Exeter water system with an additional connection to the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System
(LHPWSS) supply mains (a LHPWSS connection to Exeter is currendy being constructed along Huron Street in
conjunction with the Exeter-Hensall pipeline project).
An additional LHPWSS connection would have several operational benefits for the municipal water system,
including:
• Increasing the water pressure available to system customers north of the Ausable River;
• Improving the flow of water throughout the distribution system;
• Enhancing the overall security of the water supply.
At this time, the Municipality has identified a preferred route for the proposed transmission watermain. The route
would extend approximately 1.9 km along the Dashwood Road/ Thames Road West road allowance from the
Exeter-Hensall pipeline near Airport Line easterly to a point of connection at McConnell Street (refer to the
accompanying key plan). The watermain would be constructed entirely within the existing road allowance.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL SCREENING PROCESS:
The planning for this project is following the environmental screening process set out for Schedule B activities
under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. The screening process has been completed. There were no
negative impacts identified with the proposed road project that could not be mitigated. Subject to any comments
received as a result of this Notice and the receipt of necessary approvals, the Municipality of South Huron intends
to proceed with this project.
PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT:
For further information on this project, please contact the consulting engineers: B.M. Ross and Associates, 62

Allen, Planner (e-mail: sallen@bmross.net). A Screening Report documenting the environmental assessment
process to date is also available for public review at the Municipal Office (332 Main Street, Exeter) and the Exeter
Public Library (330 Main Street) during normal hours of operation.
If environmental concerns arise regarding the project which cannot be resolved in discussion with the Municipality
of South Huron, a person or party may request that thc Minister of the Environment make an order for thc project
to comply with Part 1I of the Environmental Assessment Act which addresses individual environmental
assessments. Requests must be received by the Minister at the address below within 30 calendar days of this
Notice. A copy of the request must also be sent to the consulting engineers at the address above. If there is no

HENSALL — Queensway residents did
their duty as citizens on Wednesday
when the onsite polling stations saw lots
of traffic throughout the day. We were
pleased to have had four of the six can-
didates visit Queensway during the cam-
paign.
Residents have been enjoying their
Monday afternoon Bingo's with the
Hensall United Church women providing
assistance and prizes through the month
of October.
Staff and residents collaborated for the
Church Service Tuesday afternoon with
a hymn sing and devotional on prayer
and striving to be kind to one another,
when our scheduled minister was unable
to attend. Belva Fuss was volun-
teer organist for the service. In
the evening the Christian Reform
choir sang for residents and visit-
ed over refreshments following
the program.
Coffee and current events
Thursday morning provided
opportunity for residents to dis-
cuss elections results and express
their approval or dismay. Many
have long memories of transgres-
sions made by the various par-
ties.
Jim and Elaine Scott of
Goderich kept the sunroom rock-
ing Thursday evening as their
singing and keyboard skills had
residents singing along and danc-
ing to the tunes. Residents appre-
ciate having entertainment on the
Unit from time to time as they
can enjoy all or part of the pro-
gram as they are able.
Baking group met Friday after-
noon to make spiced apple
muffins which on completion tast-
ed much better than they looked.
After discussion it was decided
that they were best consumed
that day rather than frozen for
sale at our craft and bake sale
Nov. 17. Baking group occasion-
ally has baking flops just like in
your own kitchen.
Apple cider, sausage roll hor's de oeu-
vres and apple streusel cake were served
at the Saturday afternoon Octoberfest
party with Gladys and The Merrymakers.
George Turner's beautiful solos were a
definite highlight of the afternoon.

In this column, we always praise the merits of
walking at least 30-40 minutes five times per
week. New research on blood pressure and
walking shows that breaking that walk up into
three or four ten minute walks per day is as good
or better for your blood pressure. So if it is easier
to take shorter walks, do it. It's good for you and your blood
pressure.
In the U.S. where "Direct to Consumer Advertising" IDTCAI is
allowed, the sales of the advertised drugs has increased
significantly. Canadian observers feel that by not having those ads
in Canada, our health care system has saved about $10 billion per
year. There's no doubt that these ads create a demand for the
products.
Marijuana use is on the increase and so is the potency of the
product. The average amount of the active ingredient, THC, in
today's samples of marijuana is 8.5 per cent which is double what
it was in 1983. There were even some samples that had shopping
32.3 per cent THC content. Also, emergency rooms are seeing
more marijuana -induced problems than ever before.
People with incontinence problems shouldn't drink either too
much or too little fluid each day. Too much can worsen the problem
but too little can concentrate the urine too much causing bladder
irritation which can trigger the incontinence. Try to drink enough
fluid to give a pale -yellow colour to your urine.

I don't know what 1 want to do. Is university or college better? Or
should I just work for a while? There's nothing for me in Huron County
New jobs are invented every day. How am I supposed to know what
courses to take? I can't afford a farm and all that equipment but I'm
attracted to agricultural jobs. What are my options? I keep hearing that
the Internet makes work more global. How does that affect me? Life
long learning? What does it mean? If I have to borrow money for my
education how can I afford to pay it back and still have a life?
