HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2007-10-10, Page 1616 Times–Advocate Wednesday, October 10, 2007 World Record Walk Going for the record — Students, staff and parents at Lucan Public School participated in the Green Communities World Record Walk Oct. 3 at 12:30 p.m.The idea behind the walk was to break the Guinness World Record for the largest number of people walking one kilometre at the same time.The current record is held by a group in western Australia that saw 100,915 participants walk at the same time. Hunter Sept. 27 in Exeter Court, Vinzenz EXETER Krainz of Centralia COURT was given a sus- pended sentence and placed on probation for 18 months after pleading guilty on two charges of threat- ening death. The court heard that when Krainz's common law wife arrived home at 5:25 a.m. May 7, the accused became verbally abusive and threatening. A further charge of threatening bodily injury was withdrawn. Theft Karen Remus of Bayfield plead- ed guilty to a charge of theft stemming from an incident April 13 resulting in a missing phone at a resident in Dashwood. Remus was placed on probation for 12 months and given a sus- pended sentence and 25 hours of community service. A further charge of break, enter and commit was with- drawn. Impaired Paul Lovie of McTaggart Line was found guilty of over 80 mg resulting from an incident Oct. 20 after pleading not guilty to the charge. OPP Const. Joanne Van Mierlo testified she was eastbound on Huron Road at 11 p.m. when she saw a vehicle driven by Lovie not stop at a stop sign at Huron Road and McTaggart Line. Van Mierlo testified she fol- lowed Lovie's vehicle onto his residence and noticed the smell of alcohol and that Lovie was unsteady on his feet. Lovie was given a 12 month driving ban and a $1,200 fine. A further charge of ability impaired was stayed.
