HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Times Advocate, 2007-10-10, Page 22 Times–Advocate Wednesday, October 10, 2007 REGIONAL WRAP UP • REGIONAL WRAP Hit and run MIDDLESEX — A cyclist was transported to LHSC Victoria Hospital with non -life threatening injuries after a hit and run Oct. 2 around 7:30 p.m. The collision between the car and a cyclist occurred on Richmond Street north of Nine Mile Road in Middlesex Centre. The cyclist was northbound on Richmond Street when he was hit from behind. The driver of the vehicle, possibly a dark coloured car, did not stop. Middlesex OPP are asking the public to report any vehicles that had been traveling north of London with unaccounted for hood damage to the Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122. Ball's Bridge to reopen Saturday CENTRAL HURON — A popular tourist attraction will reopen after having closed down for many months, reports The Citizen. The historic Ball's Bridge will reopen Saturday, just in time for light vehicular traffic to go across looking at the fall colours. The bridge was closed for safety purposes and the cost to bring them up to standards. Initially it was to close indefinitely. After much public support for the scenic bridge, a decision was reached by the county to turn the bridge over to the municipalities of Ashfield-Colborne- Wawanosh, as well as paying $250,000 to assist in repairs. The official opening will be marked with a ribbon cutting Saturday at 2 p.m. Walking for cancer CLINTON — Huron County's first Breast Cancer Walk will take place in Clinton Saturday, according to The Clinton News -Record. The walk is organized by the Huron -Perth branch of the Canadian Cancer Society and a committee of vol- unteers. The five -kilometre walk begins at Heartland Credit Union at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $10, plus pledges. Resident expresses snowmobile concerns Continued from front page as many as 500 snowmobiles. "This is very noisy of course," Verbeek wrote. "The gasoline fumes are not pleasant ... and we can smell the fumes in the house." Verbeek added her grandchildren are not able to play or toboggan on her property because of safety concerns. The snowmobile traffic also damages her lawn, she wrote. Coun. Pete Armstrong wondered if snowmobilers could take a different route as an alternative to Verbeek's property. After discussing the issue, it was decided the road superintendent will meet with the snowmobile club to discuss the issue.
