Our meeting was opened with the thought for today "For the heart that finds joy in small things, each day is a wonderful gift." Final arrangements for participating in the Grand Bend Farmer's Market on Oct 6, held in the Main Street Municipal Office was discussed. Hopefully everyone is geared up and ready for making of the pies, and the final setting up. Some of the items that we will have, besides lots of bak- ing, are stone art, crochet afghans, preserves, Swedish weaving run- ners, scrubbies, hand towels, plus a lot of other items. Our group participated in the Zurich Fair with a display, and we came in first. Thank you to all who helped. Mr Tremaine gave us a short description of how the museum first started in 1978 with the display of just two private collec- tions, but now the exten- sive 50,000 square foot complex is home to more than 25,000 artifacts and 10,000 photographs depicting the history of Sarnia-Lambton. The Museum is also home to Canada's largest collec- tion of pressed glass. Over the past decade, the Lambton Heritage Museum has been gradu- ally building a notable collection of significant furniture from the 19th century in Lambton County. Everyone enjoyed the tour of the furniture and it brought back a lot of memories for some of our older members. Did you know that pes- ticide use in Ontario has been reduced by 52 per cent over the past 20 years.
