Despite the losses, Exeter coach Deryk Howard said he was happy with the way the team played Friday night after the Hawks came back from an early 3-0 deficit to make it close. Howard said while the Trojans took it to the Hawks for the first part of Friday's game, the Hawks showed their condition- ing by dominat- ing the last half. "It showed we're in the kind of shape we want to be in." Howard said Sundays game was disappointing in a lot of ways with both teams drawing a lot of penalties, causing the game not to have any flow. Josh Wood notched both goals for the Hawks Friday night while Jeff Mathonia had the lone goal for Exeter Sunday night. The Hawks special teams were busy in both games with the penalty killers not giv- ing the Trojans a goal in 11 chances while the Exeter power play was blanked in 15 chances against the Stars. The Hawks were also suf- fering from a virus that reduced their lineup by the end of Sunday's game to 13 skaters. "It was a tough game all around, but two games into it I saw a lot of things that I can work with." The Hawks host Mitchell Friday night at 8:30 p.m. which Howard said is always a tough test. Howard added that Mitchell also has several new faces in their lineup, unlike Parkhill and Thamesford.
