Judith Ritchie was in charge of the regular church service on Sunday morning and lit the Christ candle. The opening hymn God of The Sparrow was sung. Rev. Judith gave words of welcome and everyone passed the Peace. The introit We Praise You For Your Love was sung. Rev. Judith led in the call to worship responsively, and everyone read the opening prayer in unison. Rev. Judith read the announcements. Grace Pym lit the red candle for Peace. Rev. Judith read the Old Testament lesson Jeremiah 32:1-32, 6-15. Rev. Judith told Justin Pym a story "Life Is Like a Road." Everyone sang The Lord's Prayer. Psalm 91 was read responsively. The choir sang There is A Crown In Jesus Name accompanied by the pianist Beth Cooper. Grace Pym read the Epistle lesson 1 Timothy 6:6-19. The title of Rev. Judith's message was "A Two Way Street." Everyone sang the hymn We Praise You 0 God and read the affirmation of our faith "A New Creed." John and Ola Batten received the offering and every- one sang We Give Thee But Thine Own and read the offertory prayer in unison. Rev. Judith had prayers for the people. Everyone sang the closing hymn I'm Gonna Live So God Can Use Me and Rev. Judith gave the com- missioning and pronounced the benediction. Everyone sang the choral benediction The flowers in the church were placed there by Dennis and Cindy Pym in memory of their grandfather, the late Gordon Prance. Announcements Sept. 30 - CLUC Service at Centralia U.C. at 10 a.m. Communion will be served. Sept. 30 - Community Thanksgiving Service to be held at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church, Exeter at 3:30 p.m. Following the service, there will be a "Shriners" Fish Fry fundraising dinner (you must purchase a ticket) with proceeds going to South Huron Hospital. Sept. 30 -- End of summer campfire and hot dog roast at Morrison Dam from 7-9 p.m. United Church High School Youth and friends are invited along with other youth groups. Everyone is welcome. Cost is a toonie and a little bit of your time. Call Rev. Paul Ross by Sept. 26 at the latest to register. Oct. 3 - Standing committees meeting at 7 p.m. fol- lowed by council meeting at 8:15 p.m. Oct. 3 - Organ concert at Exeter UC at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy an evening of music with Helga Hoffman from Germany on the organ and son, Friedhelm Hoffmann, tenor. Personals Quite a number of people from this area attended the visitation and funeral of the late Gordon Prance on Thursday and Friday at the Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter.
