The sky is amazing, the temperature is warm, and the leaves are begin- ning to turn colour. As the days get shorter, watch out for more farm vehicles on the roads, especially at night as farmers are busy har- vesting soybeans and corn and planting wheat. They sometimes work very long days, and all drivers need to be watch- ful. James T. Field Memorial Airport On Sun., Sept. 23, Goderich Aircraft wel- comed many employees, family, and friends who arrived at the airport for the special dedication. Earlier this year, Goderich Aircraft Inc. became the proud new owners of the Centralia Airport. The ceremony on Sunday celebrated the renaming of the airport to James T. Field Memorial Airport. It is a fitting tribute to the late James T. Field, father of Blaine Field, (president of Goderich Aircraft Inc.). The planes on the tar- mac testified to the high quality work and commit- ment of the employees. Overhead, the buzzing of Harvard airplanes was a reminder of the days when the airport was known as RCAF Centralia, a busy training base for the allies in World War II. Earlier that morning, another celebration took place a few miles away. Many gathered at Zion West United Church for their Anniversary service. John McNeilly was the guest speaker for this special occasion. On Sun., Sept. 30, the Community of Local United Churches invites everyone to join in wor- ship at 10 a.m. at Centralia United Church. There will be special music for this service. Thanksgiving will be celebrated on Oct. 7 at regular times at Zion West and Centralia United Churches. Dave Williams will lead wor- ship. Centralia United Church will celebrate their anniversary on Sun., Oct. 14 at 11:30 a.m. There are also several upcoming events to note. The official board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Zion United Church. The fall rally of the UCW will be held Mon., Oct. 22 at St. Mary's United Church. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. The Annual Turkey din- ner and Silent Auction will be held on Nov. 18 at the South Huron Rec Centre. Mark your calen- dars for a delicious meal! There are many in our community who face challenges in their daily lives and in their health. Please keep them in your prayers. The manufacturer notes that even though there is a risk of some irregular breakthrough bleeding, the product could be useful for many women at certain times in their lives. Those cotton -tipped applicators can be very useful but not in the ears to remove wax. If wax in the ear is your problem, simply put a drop or two of mineral oil in your ear, lie down with that ear facing up for about one hour. The wax will dissolve and will drip out of that ear onto a tissue when you lie on that ear. Our lungs contain millions of tiny air cells called alveoli. They are necessary to the proper functioning of our lungs. The toxins in tobacco smoke causes these air cells to pop and leak causing emphysema and other serious lung disorders. How successful was your resolution to stop smoking this year? Some people feel we are over regulated when it comes to medications. Back in the 19th Century, there were very few regulations governing the sale of tonics and nostrums. Many contained dangerous drugs like opium and copious amounts of alcohol and were often recommended "to quiet crying children". Regulations are important for public safety.
