CD to showcase locals $5,600 donation to Relay for Life
HURON — A new project is
designed to show off the talents
of local women.
"Noted!" is a joint project
between Huron United Way,
Heritage and Culture Partnership
and Women Today to develop
and promote the female musi-
cians of Huron County. The goal
is to produce a compilation CD of
top industry standard featuring
10 female artists from the coun-
ty. "Participants will be selected
to take part based on their sub-
mitted demos with representation
from all types of music, age levels
and experience," says Louise
Fagan, producer of Louise Fagan
Productions. "There will be no
cost to any of the women chosen
to take part."
—Noted!' aims to overcome the
perceived barriers that living in a
rural community has on reaching
ones full potential." Says Huron
United Way Executive Director
Kimberley Payne.
"By utilizing existing resources
and facilities in Huron County,
we aim to prove that the infra-
structure and expertise does
exist here to support the profes-
sional aspirations of the local
musical community."
The `Noted!' project is broken
down into three segments. The
first of these will see the selected
participants take part in a two-
day training session of work-
shops on a variety of music
industry topics including song -
writing, voice production and
marketing. These education ses-
sions will provide the musicians
with skills and knowledge they
can use in establishing them-
selves as professional Canadian
musicians.
The next step, after the two-day
educational component, will be to
go into a local recording studio in
early 2008 and record. Each
woman will have the opportunity
to record one song of their own
and they will be provided the ser-
vices of a professional producer,
recording engineer and neces-
sary studio musicians for the
track. Once the recording is fin-
ished the files will be sent to be
professionally mastered and the
final CD manufactured.
"We are already rich in talent
in Huron County; what's needed
now is opportunity and the
access to professional expertise
to build a tool kit for success,"
says Payne. "The `Noted!' project
provides the necessary experi-
ences and skills development in
order that our talented women
can realize their dream of a suc-
cessful career in the Canadian
Music Industry from their home
base of Huron County."
The final phase of the project
will revolve around the launch of
the CD in the spring of 2008. The
official launch will feature a con-
cert with all of the musicians
from the CD taking part and get-
ting their chance to show what
they can do live on stage. The ini-
tial launch concert will be fol-
lowed by several smaller con-
certs throughout the county.
To qualify to take part in this
exciting venture you must be a
female resident of Huron County
and have reached the age of 16
by Dec. 31, 2007. Applicants are
asked to submit a recorded song
demo along with a bio by Nov. 1,
2007.
