DROP BISCUITS
As FALL ARRIVES I SURE ENJOY PUTTING THE OVEN ON AND
BAKING AGAIN. THE FOLLOWING RECIPE IS ONE THAT I HAVE
USED A NUMBER OF TIMES IN COOKING FOR THE SENIORS
AND I LOVE THE SIMPLICITY OF THEM AND THEY TASTE GREAT
TOO!
2 cups flour (half white/half whole wheat)
3 tbsp. white sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 /2 tsp salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 beaten egg
3/4 cup milk
Cut shortening into dry ingredients `til coarse. Combine egg
and milk and add to flour all at once. Stir till mixed. Drop the
biscuits by spoon full on a cookie sheet and bake at 450
degrees for 10-14 minutes or `til golden. Variations can
include adding sharp grated cheese, raisins or currants and
1/2 tsp cinnamon. Enjoy!
