Comments: Exeter Red capped off a great fin-
ish to their season with an awesome final tour-
nament in Exeter by wimiing gold. It couldn't
have happened without the huge defensive
contribution by Amanda Verbeke, Chad
Crawford, Fraser Fulton, Will Chaisson and
Michelle Russell along with the super goaltend-
ing of Zach Shewan.

Nicole to her sister Sydney Kaumanns
Coaches comments: Hard fought game with
that the girls played great right to the very end.

with the qualifiers this week and the tourna-
ment in Strathroy on Saturday. Make us all
proud girls.
U18 South Huron #1
Aug. 16
SH 3 versus Grand Bend 1
Goals: Lindsay Branderhorst, Abbey
DeWeerd (2)
Goalkeeper: Magen Overholt
Coaches comments: South Huron 1 finished
off the 2007 regular season with a convincing
victory over a strong Grand Bend squad. South
Huron controlled most of the play in the first
half and generated a handful of excellent scor-
ing opportunities. It was Grand Bend who
scored first though on a long shot that found its
way into the top of the net. DeWeerd respond-
ed late in the half by beating the keeper in
close with a low shot. In the second half
Branderhorst volleyed the ball past the goalie
on a very nice corner kick by Justine
VanEsbroeck. DeWeerd completed the scoring
with her second on the day. Overholt had a
strong game in the net and prevented many
good scoring chances. A strong game was
played by the entire defensive line. With the
win South Huron 1 earned the top spot in the
league by finishing the season with 12 consec-
utive victories.
Aug. 23
SH 1 (4) versus Lucan 1
Goals: Colleen Willert, Justine VanEsbroeck
(3)
Goalkeepers: Magen Overholt
Coaches comments: A strong overall effort
earned South Huron 1 a victory in their
Challenge Cup qualifier South Huron 1 con-
trolled much of the play and prevented an
aggressive Lucan squad from getting many
quality chances. By using the game plan South
Huron was able to generate many solid scoring
chances as well.
