Author's visit — Children at the Hensall Public
Library last week enjoyed a glimpse into the creative
process as author Carrie Percy, above right, read from
her book,"Ridley Bluefox and the Flying Fish of
Fortune Falls," and showed them a writing exercise.
Percy, an elementary teacher from Cambridge, had
the children describe various parts of an imaginary
character, then took those descriptions and drew a
picture of it. Helping her above is Jillian Bjelan, 10, of
Hensall. Percy told the children she likes writing
about the "impossible" and the "amazing?' She added,
"When you are a writer, you can make up anything
you want." (photo/Scott Nixon)
