Facilities manager Tom Dickens said the quote from Wade Berard Plumbing for $13,645 was the lowest for the purchase and installation of a water softening sys- tem for the arena. Dickens said the other attempts to solve the problem of the hard water at the arena have failed and the process has been dragged out because of questions about what equipment is required to complete the job. He added the cost of the water softener and the oper- ating budget will be offset by reduced maintenance on equipment and supplies.
