Summer entertainment
Community effort —The organizing committee of the Second Annual Gord Strang
Memorial GolfTournament presented theAusable Bayfield Conservation Foundation with a
$4,500 cheque recently, raised through the efforts of donors and participants to the 2007
tournament to, in Gord Strang's memory, support maintenance of the MacNaughton
Morrison section of the South Huron Trail.Accepting the donation on behalf of the
Foundation are secretary Judith Parker (far left) and chairperson Bill
Linfield (far right). Presenting the cheque are committee members Rob
Dionne,AI Taylor, Rob Snell, Lorne Rideout and Jim O'Toole.The 2008
tournament is June 2 at Ironwood Golf Course outside Exeter. For more

POLICE BRIEFS
Stolen ATV in Hensall
HENSALL — Sometime during the night of Aug. 15 thieves entered
the shed of a residence on Brock Avenue in Hensall. Once inside they
stole a 2006 Artie Cat 4wd ATV, serial number 4UF06ATV76T233594.
Straw on fire again
BLUEWATER — For the third time in a week the Huron OPP and
area fire departments responded to bales of straw set on fire. On Aug.
15 emergency crews responded to a fire on Goshen Road in Bluewater.
Police were informed by the owner that 112 round bales had been
harvested for over a week, with some piled on the ground and on top
of two wagons. Estimated loss is in excess of $11,000.
Car vandalized in Exeter
EXETER — On Aug. 16 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. the following morning, a
purple Kia motor vehicle was keyed in the parking lot of the apartment
complex at 306 Carling Street in Exeter.
Enjoyable BBQ and music
ZURICH — Our diners met on
Aug 8 at 11:15 a.m. with exercises
by Alex Peel followed by a delicous
meal prepared by our cook Deb
Wagler. The 50/50 was won by
Carl Finkbeiner flowers from
Glena's garden to Gwen MacKellar
and Earl Flaxbard. Glena had a
reading ADD (age activated atten-
tion deficitdisorder.)
Progressive Euchre was played
with Marie Cyr having high score
while Gwen and Lottie tied for sec-
ond high and Lee Regier had the
most lone hands.
On Aug 15 the 50/50 went to Lee
Regier and flowers to Carl and
Lottie. Our Entertainment came
from Mitchell Jack Youngston and
Ann from Zurich and area Phylis
Deichert and Lois Hodgins
Several people from this area
attended the provincial senior
games in St Mary's on Mon., Aug.
14.
Those receiving ribbons and gifts
from Zurich and area euchre were
for Lottie Grenier and partner.
Bill Coleman; for swimming
Bonnie Cronin; for walking Harvey
and Charlotte Norton.
Aproximately 600 persons
attended this event followed by a
buffet supper. The events were
held in the Stratford and St Mary's
facilities.
Entertainment – Musical entertainment was enjoyed by the Zurich
